2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/ BACKGROUND INFORMATION
2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent:-
This is a mining project of the mineral Dolomite Stone over an area of 8.094 ha Near Village:
Malegaon, Tehsil-Sausar District- Chhindwara (MP).
The details of the project proponent and project are given below:
2.2 Brief description of nature of the project
The proposed mining lease area is 8.094 Ha in Near Village- Malegaon, Tehsil-Sausar, District-
Chhindwara (MP) with proposed annual production capacity of 89,100 MT by opencast method.
2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region
Steel plants draw major supplies of dolomite for use as a flux and also as a refractory material. It is
useful in the recovery of magnesia and also in the manufacture of magnesium metal; for the
manufacture of basic magnesium carbonate (termed ‘technical carbonate’), ‘block magnesia’ or
‘magnesia alba’ used in pipe and boiler coverings as heat insulation, in pharmaceutical, rubber,
chemical industries, paper, leather, glass, potteries and high-magnesium limes. In agriculture, it is
used as a soil conditioner to correct acidity. It finds use as filler in fertilizers, paints & varnishes,
and for suppression of dust in coal mines. It is also used as a building stone and in the making of
flooring tiles as chips & powder.

The Stone along excavated will be dispatched to steel plants like Bhilai, NECO, Maharashtra
Smelters in Durg, Nagpur, Chandrapur and such other small steel units in Madhya Pradesh,
Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra which are about 300 km from mine head.
B) Export Market
The mineral will be export to nearby market.
2.8 Employment Generation (Direct and indirect) due to the project
There are two types of labours will be working in the mine, Skilled and Unskilled labours. Project
will create direct & indirect employment within the surrounding region. Unit will use good faith

The restoration and reclamation is not proposed in this Mine Plan as the life of mine may
increase at the end of 5 years by excavation of mineral and its continuity in depth.
The reclamation and restoration proposals will be provide at the time of end of the mining in
this lease area.

trucks after loading will be covered with
tarpaulin sheets.
Speeds of vehicles will be maintained within
the prescribed limits.
Proper maintenance of haul & approach

 Periodically monitoring of ambient air
quality in and around lease area is
compulsory as per CBCB guidelines.
Dust mask will be provided to all workers.
9.4 Water Pollution Control
9.4.1 Impact on Surface Water
There is no surface drainage passing through the lease area and hence impact of mining activities is
unlikely to make any change on drainage pattern of the area.
No significant impact is envisaged on these surface water bodies as no mine run off will be
discharged to any of the surface water channels during mining operations. It is, therefore,
apparent that there will be negligible impact of mining on the surface water regime.

Water
Pollution
There is no such impact on
water environment.
Mining shall be carried out well
above the general ground water
table by open cast Method.
The mineral is Non toxic.
There is no perennial water body
in the area. therefore mining
activities will not cause adverse
impacts.
As the man power will be from
nearby villages. Therefore
discharge of domestic waste
water will not be much and can
be controlled with the provision
of septic tank and soak pit.
Core Zone (Near
Mine Site)
Ground water table is at 20-25 mbgl
from general ground level and
ultimate depth of pit is from ground
water level. So, mining activity will
not intersect the ground water.
Mining activities will not cause any
adverse impact on water bodies as the
mineral is non toxic in nature.
 Garland drain will be properly
developed to channelized so that the
rain water and wash offs.
As the man power likely to be from
nearby villages, therefore discharge
of domestic waste water will be
limited can be easily controlled by
septic tank and soak pit.
The stored water will be used for
arresting and minimizing the hazards
of suspender. Particular Matter in
Ambient Air, and for the development
of green belt etc.
A parapet & garland drain would be
developed around the working pit to
prevent any advertent entry in the pit
and to arrest the flow of rain water in
to the pit.

checkup of all workers noise related
health hazards.
Proper training to personnel to create
awareness about adverse effects of
noise levels.
Unnecessary use of horns by the

9.6 Solid waste Management
During five year 49,500 T of waste will be generated which will be used for the road maintenance
and backfilling.
The top soil is not observed separately in the area it may come across in thin layers somewhere at
the surface. The soil will be scraped and stacked separately to be used for plantation. Hence, there
will not be permanent stacking of soil.
9.7 Socio Economic Improvement
It is proposed that the lessee shall spend for social development of the local residents. Under social
development of the area, the lessee will donate part of his profit to provide drinking water facility,
books to the poor student of the local school and medicines in the local hospital for treatment of the
poor people and other social work.

9.8 Health and Safety Plan
To prevent the occupational disease / Health hazards, suitable measures are proposed in drilling &
excavation operations. This will prevent the inhalation of the dust by the workers. The workers will
be periodically medically examined under Rule 29(b) of Mines Rule. If any worker found to have
contracted with any occupational disease, He will be immediately removed from the affected area
and will be provided with proper medical care as per provision of Mines Rule.
In case of any injury to the worker during work, the following measures will be taken:
The workers will be immediately provided the first aid by a trained worker.
For safety practices during mining, the workers will be provided proper safety wearing and
equipments such as hand gloves, safety boots, Helmets, earplugs and life jackets etc.

All the workers will be given vocational training every year on safety aspects in mining by the
trained Vocational Training Officers.Apart from this all safety precaution will be taken as per
Act, Rules, Regulation and Byelaws made there under.
Protective respiratory devices will be provided to personnel working in dusty areas with
adequate training.
A watchman is proposed for ward and watch duty in discontinuance and continues period of
operation.

Presently no big tree is observed in the lease area. The seasonal shrubs and bushes are observed in
the applied lease area.
Total 6,000 trees will be planted over 2.70 ha area which is covers more than 33% of total lease
area. Plantation will be done along the 7.5 m safety barrier of the mining lease area, Haul &
Approach roads, Backfilled area and undisturbed area. It has been proposed that around 2000 trees
will be planted each year considering the target of production. Proper protection devices for
survival of trees will be provided. There will be separate watering arrangement. The dead plants
will be replaced by fresh one in next monsoon.

10.0 ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS)
Project will create direct & indirect employment opportunities within the surrounding region.
Unit will use good faith efforts to employ local people from the nearby villages depending
upon the availability of skilled & un-skilled man-power surrounding the project site.
In this proposed mining project workforce of non-technical and technical persons are required.
Migration of highly education and skilled experience will result in increase of literacy in the
surrounding villages.
Assessment of the potential socioeconomic benefits during mining focused primarily on work
force requirements, acquisition of supplies, and the temporary increased demand for services
related to the mining project like food, housing, communications, law enforcement, medical
care, local transportation etc. Due to these, additional revenue to local suppliers for required
products and services related to the construction and operation phases of the project will
generate.

Thus, mining activities will provide numerous new, although temporary, work opportunities
for both skilled and unskilled labor, as well as contribute significantly to the local economy.
Additional government revenue expected from royalty, taxes, duties and other fees.
An added benefit to the proposed project will result in considerable growth of stimulating the
industrial and commercial activities in the state. Small and medium scale industries may be
further developed as a consequence.
