Describe how post-WWI conditions lead to the rise of antidemocratic governments in Europe.
“WWI was fought for power…
WWII was fought for revenge”
Revenge?Who wants it?
And for what reason?
How did the Treaty of Versailles cause WWII?
Treaty of Versailles:1.) Guilt Clause: Germany to
admit that they are completely guilty for everything!
2.) Germany to pay $33 billion in war damages = Reparations
3.) Military broken down and limited
4.) Divide Empires5.) Created League of
Nations
How did each of these effect Germany?
1.) Germany was the international bad guy…who wants to trade with the bad guy?
2.) Germany not only has no friends, but no money.
3.) They have no protection
4.) Large amounts of Germany land now belong to other nations.
5.) With no League of Nation there is no world police…it’s easy to misbehave.
New Nations:1.) Poland2.) Czech Republic3.) Austria4.) Hungary5.) Romania6.) Yugoslavia7.) Smaller Bulgaria8.) Turkey
Germany is goingto want their land back!

•1918 = “Spanish Flu” 50 million die
•Hyper-inflation (Germany money was worthless)
She’s burning money for heat.
