We wanted a home that would perform well from an environmental design perspective, while reflecting Australian architectural values. We didn’t have time to supervise the building process at Lorne, so we needed a ready-built house that could be easily sited. Prebuilt has the right architectural values, and they were very willing to work with us in modifying design and construction to deliver an enhanced environmental performance.

I’d built a house before and had trouble with builders going away and weather issues. I tried to get a traditional builder but a lot of people couldn’t do it for a long time or they weren’t interested. Getting people there was too hard. This way, I got no surprises with the building (or the cost) and there was no rubbish left around. I went to see the house being built in the factory and I knew exactly what I was getting. They got there at 7.30am and the house was installed by 12.30pm. There were only a few things to then finish off. We sat back drinking coffee and watched the whole thing unfold before our eyes. It was amazing. The local residents got a shock because one day there was nothing and the next day there was a house.

Thanks to you and your staff, we have our fantastic beach house complete on-site at Moggs Creek. As complete novices to the process of building a house we found the support and guidance offered invaluable. From the design through to the planning and building phases we were impressed with the quality of advice. Prebuilt has manufactured over 200 houses and office suites across Australia from our base in Kilsyth, Victoria. For our logistics team, no location is too remote or too far.
No matter where your site is, our construction manager will perform a site inspection as soon as you sign up with Prebuilt. We’ll calculate the exact siting of your house, assess the layout and access, and make suggestions which might improve your plan. Once factory construction is complete, the Prebuilt team will travel to your site to install the house on footings. Houses arrive completely plumbed and wired, with kitchens, bathrooms and joinery already in place. All that is left for you to do is connect your new house to services using local tradespeople.
Houses are fabricated to completion in our factory and then transported whole via trucks to their new locations.
Prebuilt prices include free delivery and installation up to 150km from our factory. Additional costs are incurred on the basis of kilometres and number of trucks required. Refer to house information pages to see how many trucks are required.
Some hard-to-access or urban sites may require additional crane hire, which is billed at cost. Crane charges will be determined following a site inspection, where relevant.

Design Thoughtful design makes all the difference to your eco-footprint. Prebuilt homes are designed with efficient floor-plans that avoid under-utilised spaces and encourage engagement with the outdoors. Better-designed plans mean less spent on heating and cooling. With site-specific window placement, cross ventilation, good insulation and shading, we maximise the potential for natural temperature control. Minimising solar gain and maximising ventilation helps your house run better in summer while passive solar and minimising heat loss keeps it warmer in winter.
Construction We adopt a green approach to all areas of our construction. We use plantation and recycled timber, water-saving plumbing fittings and energy-efficient appliances. We provide options for our clients to include low VOC-emitting paints and stains, solar hot water and solar panels, water tanks, grey water recycling systems, reed beds and composting toilets. Many of our clients have houses which are completely self-sufficient, running entirely off the grid.
Prebuilt’s factory-based construction offers significant environmental advantages over traditional building: reduced travel emissions, standardised components that reduce material waste and no material loss due to weather damage. This means our houses have far lower embodied energy than most traditionally-built houses.
Land impact Your site is better off with a Prebuilt house, remaining untouched while the construction takes place in our factory. Our footing system means that most sites will not require any excavation – slopes can remain as they are and vegetation is spared the months of constant traffic of normal building sites. Prebuilt houses do not use slabs, but concrete-free footings which are removable, recyclable and reusable. Prebuilt houses sit lightly on the earth.

With streamlined horizontal lines featured throughout, the Eve house sits low into its environment, bringing the outdoors in to form an essential part of the living space. Clad in fibre cement panelling with optional hardwood, with an integrated deck, the design features a strong horizontal roof plane that floats over the building, creating a covered entry porch and large loggia space.
