The Mission For Nutrition The importance of proper nutrition is often unnoticed for students, but the School Nutrition Association (SNA) is trying to put an end to this oversight. The SNA has gone so far as convincing congress to declare a time in October to be National School Lunch Week. This celebration helps spread awareness of the vital role that school nutrition programs play in ensuring students receive healthy lunches. This year National School Lunch Week will be celebrated October 10–14 and will have a “Show Your Spirit” theme. Which consists of challenging students, staff, and school officials to pull together and share the best, real images of today’s school lunches. The SNA is also offering ideas to help rally the team to participate more in their kid’s lunch experience and overall health. Some of the ideas they recommend are: -for students and school staff to invite parents to experience school lunch first-hand through jcoming in and eating with their children. -to breakdown the cost savings. Some parents might not realize how inexpensive school lunches are compared to brown bag lunches. We at Preferred Meals are excited that this continues to be part of the national conversation because of the health benefits.
