SILLABUS :-

The M.A. History Course will be for two years with four semesters in every six months under Choice Based Creadit System (CBCS). There will be sixteen (16) papers in all. The students will offer four compulsory papers in each 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester and three Elective (apecialization) paper and one paper (Project/Dissertation) in fourth semester. The examination will be taken for 70 marks for each paper in one sitting for 3 hours at the end of every semester comprising all the topics of papers given by the University. The remaining 30 marks in each paper shall be allotted to the sessional work to be evaluated by the Departmental Council in the form of written component (20 marks) of the candidates pertaining to his/her performance at the extra-curricular activities, general behaviour and conduct. (5 marks) of the candidates pertaining to performance at the Seminars and regularity in attending classes etc. The Course materials for I, II and III Semester shall be compulsory for all candidates, except one paper each in 1st/2nd/3rd semester. The Course materials for the 4th semester shall be elective (optional). A Candidate shall have the choice to choose a group of subjects (Groups A, B and C) from and among the alternative groups for which teaching is available in the Department in the academic session, provided that one paper (of 100 marks) of the IV Semester will be project/dissertation. Ten (10) question are to be set, in which five (5) questions need to be answered. Question No. 1 consisting of 10 objective type (Multiple choice) question (1 mark each) and 4 short notes (3 marks each) shall be compulsory and the rest 4 question shall carry 12 marks each. 1. The Topic of the Dissertation shall be allotted to the students by the Head of the Department within a week

of the commencement of the Fourth (4th) Semester.

2. Teacher of the department shall be allotted duty to supervise the Dissertation work of the Students.

3. The Dissertation shall be submitted at the end of the Semester. The date of submission shall be notified by

the Head of the Department.
