Preparing Our Students For The Future Term 1: 2021

Principal’s Message

Welcome back to 2021. I hope that you all had a restful break and had the chance to do a little bit of

travelling in New South wales. The start of the school year is always busy. A very warm welcome to Year 7

students and new enrolments to our school. This newsletter highlights our Higher School Certificate

achievements from 2020. We are extremely pleased with our results. Our highest ATAR was 91.6. Well done

to our Year 12 students and a huge thank you to our teachers for their support. We have attached just a few

Year 12 success stories in this newsletter.

Hopefully 2021 will be a better year for all of us. Unfortunately, we are still bound by some Covid restrictions.

Good Hygiene Practices - Students are reminded to follow good hygiene practices at all times when at

school: Regularly washing hands. Avoiding sharing drinks or food. Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a

tissue which should be discarded immediately.

Illness - In accordance with advice from NSW health, parents and cares are reminded NOT to send children

to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms: Students and staff with flu-like

symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom free

before being permitted to return to school. Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition

that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative

test results. Where their symtoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from

their doctor confirming their symtoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed

symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.

Visitors & parents to school sites - Non-essential adults are not permitted on school grounds or at school

events. Parents and carers are not allowed on school sites or at an offsite school event held during school

hours except for:

*essential parent and carer meetings with teachers and or school executives, with a scheduled appointment.

Do not come up to the school to see staff member without having first made an appointment.

*entering a school administration building or another defined location for the purpose of picking up their child

if they are unwell or where they have been asked to arrange for a COVID-19 test after their child has

displayed flu-like symptoms while at school.

the uniform shop relevant to the space available to comply with physical distancing requirements. Uniforms

can be purchased and paid online. Appointments will need to be made to purchase uniform.

COVID Safe Check-in tool - NSW Government schools will be required to provide the Service NSW QR

code for visitors to use. This is to assist NSW Health with the fast access to accurate and complete electronic

records, should they be required, so that people who may have been in contact with a person with COVID-19

are alerted quickly and comply with appropriate Health advice.

About the COVID Safe Check-in tool - The Service NSW COVID Safe Check-in

tool is accessed by a QR code. Many of you will be familiar with the Service

NSW app from your check-in experiences at NSW businesses and

organisations. Once a visitor checks-in, their data is held by Service NSW for

28 days to assist NSW Health’s contact tracing process, when required. We

will also require you to sign in when entering the school.

We thank you for your efforts in maintaining safe learning environments.

Buses and Trains -

Face Masks - Students over the age of 12 and staff must comply w ith the Public Health (COVID -

19 Mandatory Face Coverings) Order 2021, when traveling to and from school and during school excursions

by public transport, or by chartered/private transport services. This applies to staff and students who reside

or travel to and from Greater Sydney (including the Blue Mountains), Central Coast and Wollongong.

So, this means students will need a face mask on buses and trains to and from school and on excursions. We

have provided your child with a CPHS Meask. Please ask them to wear it.

OPAL Cards - Students will need their OPAL card to be allowed on buses or trains.

School afternoon buses: Students without their cards will need to wait until those with cards are on the bus.

If there is space, it is up to the driver to let you on in an emergency. Students who regularly don ’t have a

working OPAL card will not be allowed to get on the bus.

All these restrictions will impact also on parents and carers. We will continue to conduct our parental

interviews over the phone or via Zoom, whatever is suitable. There will be no P&C meetings held on site

during the school day until further notice.

All new enrolment interviews are held on site with parents signing in and using our Covid QR codes to enter.

Uniform sales will also be available to parents by appointment only. Otherwise, students will be able to

purchase uniform on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We have a new Deputy Principal working with us, Christine Mateus who will be

responsible for Years 8 and 9. We welcome Mrs Mateus who comes to us with a

wealth of experience as a Deputy Principal.

On behalf of the staff, I wish everyone a wonderful 2021.

Susie C. Mobayed
