Hymn #485 (vs 1&2) To God Be The Glory

Call to Confession Prayer of Confession * (unison) Gracious God, you are the giver of every good and perfect gift. You give us our talents, our freedom, and our financial resources. We struggle to give back to you from these gifts. We often worry that these gifts are not enough; that we must hold onto them for ourselves and for our family. Remind us again that you have blessed us to be a blessing to others, and free us for more generous living. Forgive us, O God, for all our sins through Jesus Christ we pray ……... (Moment of silent confession and reflection) *Prayer of Confession by Chip Hardwick

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Sugartree Ministries are beginning their Fall blanket collection. With that in mind our Mission Committee will be collecting blankets for Sugartree Ministries October 4 and 11. We are asking for either twin size or full size blankets, either new, or used blankets that are in good condition. We also can take money donations from those of you who do not want to go into stores right now, and we will purchase the blankets for you. These donations can be dropped off anytime during those two weeks at the church, or especially on the Sundays of October 4th or 11th.

Highlights from the September Trustee Meeting: -Sanctuary thermostats settings are being reset, gathering more info as to why. -An A/C unit needed repair. After this did not fix problem, determined that a failed fire-wall sensor clip needed replacing. These clips are throughout the building for future reference. -Wet carpet in the cry room was caused by condensation on the A/C pipe leading into the building. Pipe has been reinsulated. -Due to Mark Hess’ resignation, Jean Haley will be building custodian until end of December. -Consideration is being given to a quote to replace phones by Frontier which would increase cost $5-10/month with a 5 year contract. Motion was made, seconded, and passed to proceed with the replacement. -Parking lot light bulbs were replaced, one is still not working. -There is a groundhog setting up residence under the preschool shed. Trying to secure that area. -Pricing the removal of a dead tree and stump in front of the church. -Insulation on all the HVAC exterior pipes needs replacing. -Once A/C unit needs replacing, will wait till spring. -Saplings growing in the gutters are to be removed. -Our current liability insurance will cover any Covid 19 issues. Next Meeting is October 8, 2020. Addendum: FYI, “Cages” have been placed over the three thermostats in the sanctu-ary. I attached them with Velcro strips so an “industrious” person could probably still adjust with some observation and persistence

SPECIAL THANKS to Mark Hess for all his years of service to our church community. Mark reluctantly resigned his position on September 14. Mark was a pleasure to work with and he will be missed.

Assurance of Pardon (responsively) One: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Passing the Peace One: The peace of Christ be with you. All: and also with you.

(Wave to others or honk your horns in recognition of God’s grace and peace. Please do not leave your car to greet others. Let’s stay safe.)

Prayer for Illumination

New Testament Reading II Corinthians 9:6-15 6The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 9As it is written, “He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” 10He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; 12for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God. 13Through the testing of this ministry you glorify God by your obedience to the confession of the gospel of Christ and by the

generosity of your sharing with them and with all others, 14while they long for you and pray for you because of the surpassing grace of God that he has given you. 15Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
