In this one-day symposium, attendees will hear and learn from a number of expert supply chain practitioners with a variety of experiences and perspectives on logistics and supply chain management. The symposium will include several case studies on individual firms that operate large-scale supply chain networks and organizations. Additionally, the symposium features several speakers with responsibilities for organizing supply chain and logistics initiatives for entire industries, and providing training on customs and import- export operations. In one short day, attendees will receive a broad set of perspectives and insights on some of the key issues in operating supply chains in the 21st century.

Speaker BiosJoe Andraski is the President and CEO of VICS (Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions) Association. VICS was established in 1986 to provide a forum for the retail industry to develop supply chain processes and technology that improve supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. VICS has more than 200 members, including retailers, suppliers, information systems solution providers, consultants and third party providers, whose annual sales exceed $2 trillion. Joe has been an adjunct professor at Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business Administration for 10 years, was recently appointed to the Rider University Center for International Business Advisory Board and is a member of the GS1 Canada Board of Directors. Prior to VICS, Joe headed the logistics organization of Nabisco for many years.

Ken Colbert is the Vice President, Global Logistics, at Church & Dwight, a position he has held since 1999. In this role, Ken is responsible for leading logistics globally, which encompasses order entry, production planning, inventory deployment, transportation and warehouse strategy in support of the company’s tactical and strategic objectives. Ken began his career in manufacturing management for The Coca-Cola Company. Ken holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Finance.

Bob Nardone is an Operations Executive with more than 35 years of consumer products industry experience in the supply chain functions at Unilever, Bestfoods, Nabisco Brands and Colgate Palmolive. His experience includes assignments in logistics and customer service, manufacturing operations and engineering. Bob is currently the Managing Partner of Sylvanwood Associates, a supply chain consulting firm. His key areas of focus include supply chain transformation and performance improvement, demand and supply planning, and logistics and customer service. Bob has developed a program to instruct sales and operations planning and is a part-time professor at the Rutgers Supply Chain Management MBA Program. Prior to this, Bob’s most recent positions were VP of Supply Chain Integration for Unilever NA and VP of Logistics for Unilever Bestfoods NA. Bob’s other contributions include interviews, articles and reports in publications such as Supply Chain Digest, Supply Chain Management Review and Consumer Goods Technology.

Suzanne Richer is the President of Customs & Trade Solutions, Inc., a specialized consulting firm advising and representing clients on a broad spectrum of customs and international trade subjects. Recognized in 2006 as one of the top 20 Women in Transportation by the Journal of Commerce, Suzanne counsels numerous corporations in areas of international trade such as C-TPAT applications and validations, U.S. Customs audits, and international trade law. Suzanne has conducted international trade seminars throughout the nation, and has spoken on related topics, including Classification, NAFTA, Incoterms, export controls, import compliance issues and duty drawback. Suzanne serves on the board at Baruch College for its international educational programs, and previously served as President of the CSCMP – New York Roundtable from 2006–2008. Suzanne recently completed work on the National Program Committee of CSCMP and now conducts training in the U.S. and overseas for the Global Trade Academy.

Speaker BiosLarry Smith is a supply chain and operations executive with over 30 years of experience in clinical diagnostics and medical device companies. Currently, he is Vice President, Global Supply Chain, at Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a $7.4 billion medical device, biosciences and diagnostics company headquartered in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Prior to joining BD in 2001, Larry was Vice President of Global Supply Chain Management for Dade Behring, a $1.5 billion clinical diagnostics company. From 1996–1998, he was Vice President of Business Operations. Prior to joining Dade Behring, Larry held many assignments of increasing responsibility during an 18-year career at DuPont. His broad business background includes significant leadership assignments in manufacturing, business/general management, sales, marketing, product development and customer service.

Kevin Stout is the Founder and Executive Director of the Medical Device Supply Chain Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the global supply chains of its extensive membership of medical device suppliers, manufacturers and distributors, hospitals and related providers. Kevin’s broad supply chain experience includes senior consulting and management positions with Archstone Consulting, Ernst & Young / Cap Gemini, Accenture and Texas Instruments. He has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of industries, and he is a frequent speaker at industry and academic supply chain seminars.
