SIKHS WORLDWIDE

Sikh are almost EVERYWHERE.

A lot of them migrated especially to English-

speaking and East Asian nations.

Some of the significant events that caused the

migrations was the massacres after the passing of

Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Burma Death Railway

and the recent 1984 massacres.

The number of recorded attacks were 84

times and it was blown up completely 4

times. The lake was filled with dirt and

Every time it was attacked, the Sikhs fought

back till their final breath.

The survivors made guerilla attacks, reclaimed

it and rebuilt it every time.

Harmandir Sahib was rebuilt in 1764 by Jassa

Singh Ahluwalia.

Early 19 century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh

secured it from outside attacks.

HARMANDIR SAHIB

The gold plating of all the domes were started by

Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The gold came from the offerings

his subjects gave him but he did not want to keep .

1802–1830 Ranjit Singh did the sewa of adding gold and

marble to the Gurdwara. The interior was decorated with

fresco work and gemstones.

Architecturally, it combines Muslim, Hindu and European

design.
