The Biodiversity Foundation (BF) is a public foundation established in 1998 bythe Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment.

I would like to start giving an overview of who we are. The BF has been working since 1998 to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, contributing to the creation of jobs, wealth and well-being in the whole of society. To fulfill that mission, we develop more than 400 projects a year, working together with different entities and institutions, of the public sector, the civil society and the business sector. One of our field of activities is the green economy and the green jobs.
Inclusive Green Economy (IGE)
Low carbon, efficient and clean inproduction, but also inclusive in consumptionand outcomes, based on sharing, circularity,collaboration, solidarity, resilience,opportunity, and interdependence (UNEP,2015).
GREEN BUSINESSES – A positive force for a greener economy
Green entrepreneurs
They provide the hotbed for sustaining a green economyby providing green products and services, introducinggreener production techniques, boosting demand forgreen products and services, and creating green jobs.

I would like to offer some thoughts on Green Economy. A Green Economy is a tool for achieving sustainable development. It offers multiple benefits – economic, health, social, environmental, etc. and it is a pathway towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In fact this concept has become a strategic priority for many governments and organizations. According to UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), an inclusive green economy is (ver diapositiva). We promote green entrepreneurship through Red emprendeverde (Green Business Network): the first Spanish platform specialising in green business. Set up in 2011, this project is supported by the European Social Fund and together we are improving employment and entrepreneurship in Spain. It is aimed at Entrepreneurs and Investors. The project stimulates the growth of entrepreneurs and businesses and the shift of finance and investment towards sustainability projects. And one of the activities we develop to stimulate entrepreneurship are the Green business meetings (next slide).
