A survey by the World Heath Organization found that:

The average Chinese person consumed 4.5 L of alcohol

The average Chinese Man consumed 7.6 L of alcohol, 13times less than a Chinese woman (0.6)

That said, the average alcohol is still low when comparedto other industrial countries (Europe, for example,consumed 8.5 L on average)

Heavy drinkers were 6.7% of the sample, but contributed55% towards the national average of consumption

A report of the Tibetan ethnic minority found that the of allthe pathologically confirmed cases of cirrhosis (41 cases as ofthe time of the report in 1987), 61% were caused by alcohol(that’s 25 cases).
