June 29th - July 1st 2011 Meeting #2 ENDORSE 2
The project ENDORSE “Energy Downstream Services” aims at developing the use of Earth Observation (EO) data: satellite images, large numerical models, and ground-based observations, in renewable energies.
The European Union (EU) has established the initiative GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security), together with the European Space Agency, to foster the European capacity for Earth Observation.
December 14th - 16st 2011 Meeting #3 - ENDORSE 3
ENDORSE contributes to GMES and exploits its data to realize services dedicated to companies.
FP7 is the short name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. It is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007 to 2013. FP7 provides funding to ENDORSE up to 2.4 Meuro.
ENDORSE is coordinated by Armines (France) and will last from January 2011 to December 2013.
December 14th - 16st 2011 Meeting #3 - ENDORSE 4
ENDORSE comprises ten services dedicated to energy from sun, wind and biomass, management of electricity network, and energy savings in buildings. The methodology is User-driven: Users are involved in the design of the products, the acceptance of the services and the dissemination of the results of the ENDORSE project.

The main objective is the development of pre-operational downstream GMES services in energy. The Consortium proposes a coherent set of activities in connection to inter alia GMES and GEOSS aiming at providing energy components for GMES: To develop and validate pre-market downstream
services in collaboration with well-defined end-Users by performing R&D activities or to enhance existing services by the capabilities of the new GMES Core Services and recent R&D results;
December 14th - 16st 2011 Meeting #3 - ENDORSE 10
To assess the conditions for self-sustainability of these new or improved services through survey and workshops with end-Users;
Disseminate the achievements of the project to foster the use of Core Services data and other EO data by the renewable energies community. This includes feedbacks to Core Services and connection to other GMES projects relating to energy, such as EnerGEO;
Stimulate the market of downstream services in renewable energies towards the end-Users community, and the development of such services by SMEs and other self-oriented companies by demonstrating precursors with documented conditions of sustainability.
December 14th - 16st 2011 Meeting #3 - ENDORSE 11
An efficient workflow
for the best achievement of the
project

WP 2Refinements and consolidation of users requirementsTask 2001: products -- Task 2002: services
WP 5Users assessment. Task 5001: prime-users assessment – Task 5002: extended panel assessment
WP 7Users‘ workshops
WP 3Common research activities. Joint R&D on methods for supporting product development. Interface to GMES Core Services
WP 4 Product developmentDevelopment of products and validation
WP 40X - For each product• Product description• Plan for scientific validation• Product development• Validation• Feedback from prime-users (WP 5)• Feedback to Core Services
WP 6Pre-market service development/improvementDevelopment of services and validation
WP 60X- For each service• Service description• Service development• Quality management concept• Validation• Feedback from users (WP 5)• Feedback to Core Services
WP 8Towards the market. Sustainability analysis, implementation roadmap and business plan
WP 9Dissemination of scientific results. Publications, conferences, Web services, communicate with other initiatives
The requirements of a limited number of well-defined Users (WP2) will drive the development of the products (WP4) resulting from the research activity (WP3). As well, these requirements will contribute to the key elements for the design of the pre-market services (WP6). The interactions with an extended panel of Users (WP5) will enable a refinement in the services development.
Activities related to the sustainability of pre-market services and interactions with stakeholders in energy community will take place in WP7 and WP8.
