Assignment : Building Design Realisation within the Master Plan
This final assignment should provide a full and complete building design within the Master Plan completed as part of Assignment 1, which we did not realise and was given to us.
The Building design should use the Technology or Innovation chosen for the Building Report as well as the Technical Report.

TECHNOLOGYExoskeleton Structure
Smart Glass
EXOSKELETON STRUCTUREThis structural system
consists on exposing the main structure outside the building creating a free space inside it. This structural external frame is formed by series of columns located at the building’s perimeter with beams connecting to the columns.
The exoskeleton is a significant part of the architectural language of the building.
EXOSKELETON STRUCTUREThe most common material used in structural exoskeleton is the steel due to the fact that it is good in withstanding compressive and tensile forces.
The cleaning and maintenance take a quite important role in external steel structure as it is placed outside the building. The cleaning and maintenance has to be regularly and it can be with high pressure washing (it is the easiest way).
ADVANTAGES Space and flexibility Manageability Easy transport Lightness Ductility Good fatigue resistance High absorption capacity of
energy Constructive quickly Eco-friendly, as it is 100%
recyclable
Difficult and expensive maintenance due to its constant exposure and possible corrosion.
It must be painted regularly.
Fireproof maintenance
Susceptibility to buckling
EXOSKELETON STRUCTUREDISADVANTAGES
SMART GLASSThis ability goes to the basics of magnetisms created by electric current. So, this glass is made by many layers: glass, interlayer film, liquid crystal thin film, conductive coating and liquid crystal. The liquid crystal consist of a scattered proton mess, but, when the electricity is turned on this proton mess get ordered letting light pass through. Smartglass is a rare variety of
glass that switches from translucent to opaque. So Smartglass can be used as a conventional wall and also as a conventional glass.
ADVANTATGES Eliminate blinds and
shades Preserve daytime and
night-time views Enjoy shading on-
demand Minimize glare Reduce heating and
cooling requirements
Maximize day lighting
Protect interior furnishings and artwork from fading
Operate your windows using a home or building automation system, or even with an iPhone or IPad

FIREPROOFINGFire DoorFD60 (60 integrity and security minutes rating) with 54mm thickFD30 (30 integrity and security minutes rating) with 45mm thickKeep the building secure from intruders locking the main door from the outside but it can be opened from the inside to provide an easy and quickly scape in case of fire.
Automatic SprinklersArea covered 15 sq. mTemperature rating:68 ºC / 155 ºF
BOUNDARIESProtecting Steel
Steel structure protected with intumescent paint. In case of fire inside the building, it would not affect the exposed structure. The film intumescent coatings can provide 120 minutes fire resistance.
Smoke DetectorsWith battery back-up as fail-safe
SERVICES
SOUNDPROOFINGCeilingThe Soundblocker Entertainment Range is ideal for reducing high noise levels through floors and the breakout of environmental noise through roofs. Its thickness is 75mm and its weight is 25kg/sq. m. Soundblocker reduces room to room noise up to 46dB.
FloorMaxideck offers a very high acoustic performance on airborne noise, and also it is able to reduce impact noise too. Its size is 1200mm x 600mm. Its thickness is 28mm and its weight is 27kg/sq. m. It has a shock-absorbing floor above like carpet floor.
SERVICES Particularly, the building is located next to a train station Wrexham General. The station generates noise and vibrations that will have to be avoid.
SOUNDPROOFINGWall and PartitionsMaxiboard is a patented composite board manufactured from cement and gypsum with an acoustic membrane core. Its size is 1200mm x 600mm. Its thickness is 17mm and its weight is 28kg/sq. m. Soundblocker reduces room to room noise up to 49dB.
Acoustic Door42 dB Acoustic Doors are designed to minimize noise transmission. It has 68mm of solid core and double rebated door stops. 42 dB Acoustic Doors fire resistance is between 30 and 60 minutes rating. This Acoustic Door can avoid the entrance of noise to 42dB.
SERVICES Particularly, the building is located next to a train station Wrexham General. The station generates noise and vibrations that will have to be avoid.
SOUNDPROOFINGAcoustic ConditioningBig screen cinemas generate an incredible level of noise through their state-of-the-art sound systems. Firstly, some films are much louder than others and poor sound insulation will result in cross auditorium disturbance. Secondly, the ceiling structures of these large cinemas can be very lightweight which can cause problems for noise both breaking out and, environmental noise breaking in.
If we want to ensure the customers enjoy the movies without compromising the performance of the audio set up, or disturbing the neighbouring screens, it is needed to ensure that all separating walls and ceilings are treated with specialist sound insulating products designed for the job.
The SoundBlocker acoustic ceiling system is designed to be used on walls in place of plasterboard to ensure maximum sound protection. It is up to 50% improved sound absorption over directly bonded absorbers. Its size us 1200x1000x50mm and its weight is 3.11 Kg per panel.
SERVICES Particularly, the building is located next to a train station Wrexham General. The station generates noise and vibrations that will have to be avoid.
