After obtaining an MBA in Brussels, Valerie Barbier went to Peru for two months to assist an NGO. She fell in love with the food, country and people, and returned for a sabbatical year in October 2004.

Mishki is the realization of a dream.

Yana Cosmetics originated in December of 2004 in Huancayo (Peru) during a workshop on the Solanum tuberosum species, one of the some 300 potatoes cultivated in Peru.

Inspired by the biodiversity and the potential for development of the species, the idea of formulating and developing facial creams based on products native to Peru emerged.

After more than 2 years of research and development, Yana launched its first three products in May 2007: Mishki for normal-to-oily skin with a potato base, Mishki for normal-to-dry skin with ungurahui oil, and Mishki for oily skin with essential oil of muña.

Now the company is ready to launch a cleansing lotion with potato, an exfoliating soap with ungurahui and a cleansing water with muña.

project we are supporting the Andean and Amazon forest

communities through the use of ingredients produced

directly from nature, the employment of indigenous people

for harvesting and pre-processing, and local educational and

training programs.
