Focus: ‘Drive’ (2011) Nicolas Winding Refn

Reflecting on the posters:

After researching the poster used to promote the noir film ‘Drive’ on top of other poster research – we established that we would create something similar to this poster here. I think what really stood out to us where the colours used, they are bright and eye catching and don’t look conventionally noir-like. However, the lines used as well as the contrast of chiaroscuro lighting help the audience to recognise the genre.

Further influences:

This particular ‘Drive’ poster is similar to the work of Andy Warhol – his pop-art style is eye catching and different. I think this style of art will make the poster for our trailer extremely eye and will stand out from the rest. Using colours such contrasting colours such as pink and blue will also help to create the feel of harsh/ soft lighting – creating shadows on the face of the character.
