Abhiyan on Chalo Anganwadi kendra se Jude Hum

Department organized the statewide campaign on Chalo Anganwadi Kendra Se Jude Hum Abhiyan without involving any extra financial cost. The process involved during the campaign is as follows with following objectives

1. Ensuring 100 percent attendance of pre- enrolled children at the AWC

2. New enrollment between the target age group of 3 to 5 years at AWC within their catchment area

3. Social audit of the assets available at AWC like–medicine kit, pre-school kit, SABLA kit and other amenities provided at AWC

Phase 1: Strategy State Level

• The state level meeting called with all departmental officials for designing of Plan of Action (POA) for this campaign

• Meeting with development partners and NGO for usage of their resources in concerned areas

• Meeting with corporate agency (TATA, Jindal) for their support during the campaign

• POA developed and shared with all Deputy Commissioners, DSWOs and other partners

• Letter to interdepartmental secretaries for convergence during the campaign

• Letter issued to all deputy commissioner , DSWO, and DO letter to all PRI members for conducting meeting with field functionaries for making this event successful.

• The district level, divisional level, cluster level and block level meeting were held in each and every district with POA

Strategy adoption Malnutrition Treatment Center: Identified SAM children referred to MTC and receive treatment according to protocol. Children without medical complication adopted by the civil society along children discharge from MTC after treatment.

Sponsorship / adoption: To fight against Malnutrition district administration sensitize and involved Civil Society, Government Functionaries. Pooling resources at the local level to solve local calamity is an effort worth mentioning.

Jan Samvad: Officials of District Administration covered 500 villages as means of generating awareness on Malnutrition and ways and means of improving the status of malnourished children through the use of locally available energy dense/nutritional food. IEC:Song and Drama Division was roped in to spread the messages of ill effects of malnutrition and how families could keep their children healthy to avoid falling into the vicious cycle of malnutrition.

Strategy adoption Nutrition Package: During a workshop at the District level, representatives from UNICEF, shared the concept of making nutritious food with the locally available food materials. The District Administration suggested the same to the sponsors and shared the method of making the special packaged diet. The ingredients to make 100gm meal are;

Whole Wheat 30 gm Soybean 20 gm Bengal gram Flour (Sattu) 5 gm Sugar 35 gm Edible Refine oil 10 gm Total 100 gm

Adoption of AWC Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Abhijit Group, Tata Steel, Usha Martin Ltd. has adopted Anganwadi Center's in Latehar, East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum district respectively. Following support and activities has been extended by them.

•Betterment of physical infrastructure in the AWC- Separate room ANC and Health checkup- Kitchen garden - Wall painting & indoor playing facility

at AWC- Outdoor playing space with swings

• Support in the supplementary nutrition programme in the AWC (providing nutritional food)

• Community mobilization in the catchment area of AWC

Establishment of Real-time- Monitoring Cell Real time monitoring cell was established at

the state level for monitor the services at Anganwadi Center

The cell was started in 2010-11 at the state level and decentralized at district level in 2012-13.

The cell telephonically monitor (direct call to AWW, PRI member etc) randomly selected AWC (on remote area) on daily basis

The results shows that regular opening of AWC and effective delivery of services at AWC

For better and most effective monitoring of the AWC, involvement of ALMSC and non-government members have been planned and its going to be executed.

State's Strategies

FOR WHOMFor the moderate and severely undernourished children between age of 6 month to 59 months along with their mothers/caregivers.

WHEREWhere there is a high prevalence of moderate and severe under nutrition amongst the children of the community . Out of a cluster of 4 to 5 Anganwadi's based on 4 A’s (Accessibility, Availability, Acceptability & Approachability) of the target group.

HOWDuration of Sneh Shivir will be a 12 days NCCS (Nutritional Counseling and Care Sessions) at AWCs followed by 18 days follow-up at the home of the children, who have attended the Sneh Shivir and the Nutrition, Health, Sanitation, personal health and hygiene would be the pillars of NCCS

During these session there will be demonstration on the good and hygienic practices of cleanness as well as cooking practices by member of well to do families and civil society under positive deviance approach

What in case of absenteeism….. ?

Ex- if absent on day 3 & 8 the picture will look like…… and it will lead to lessening of absenteeism.
