INTRODUCTION

Maluma®, a predominantly Guatemalan withsome Mexican genes, was selected in theearly 1990’s by Mr Dries Joubert at Malumafarm, South Africa, as a chance seedling ofunknown parentage due to its similarity toHass. Allesbeste nursery evaluated thevariety.

Plant breeder’s rights (Za 20043215) wasgranted in South Africa. Registration of plantbreeder’s rights for Australia, New Zeeland,USA, South America and Africa is pending.Maluma has been approved in South Africa asan export cultivar since 2006.
