Women’s Economic and Political Agenda

in the post-2015

UN Women’s Fund for Gender Equality (FGE) is a multi-donor global grant-making mechanism of UN Women, created in 2009 to accelerate implementation of gender equality commitments and women’s political and economic empowerment worldwide through competitive, demand-driven grant-making to gender equality organizations worldwide.

Launched through a visionary contribution of US$ 65 million by the Government of Spain, the Fund has now consolidated itself as a multi-donor mechanism, and is grateful to its donors.

AWCSW: Formed 13 CPWPs at three levels building community accountability ; issued 10 action plans, 7 community services solutions; 76500 beneficiaries)

Anabta- oPt : The first House of women in Anabta covering 5 villages in Tulkarem,. Almost 2000 women and girls were reached through music recreational activities, theatre , open discussions and other means to build self esteem and creating a conducive space for them to grow

Empowerment In Lebanon, optimizing on local resources &

improved livelihoods

AN SPNL implemented Programme;5 involved sites: Aanjar, Kfar Zabad, el-Fekha, Qoleileh, & Al Mansouri in lebanon.

The Project got selected at the first Arab South South Development as a primary solution provider. It lobbied for The declaration of 12 Hima sites in Lebanon by the Ministry of Environment.

Replication of the model and upscaling-The Establishment of the Hima Fund in Qatar. The replication of Al Hima approach to Syria, Jordan, and Iraq.

Creation of Hima Women Souk ( markets) in major two cities of Byblos and Anjar.

Capacity-strenghtening and sensitization of 2,000 rural women from the 20

poorest municipalities of the Wilaya on their rights to education, health,

professional training, and employment opportunities. 100 focus groups

organized by El Ghaith and its partner grassroots organizations;

Capacity-streghtening of local civil society through the Bordjienne

Associations network: 60 organizations trained on women's rights, gender

and development, advocacy, development strategies, project cycle

management and 5 associations from the 5 poorest communes received

specific training on monitoring and management of income generating

activities

400 women were empowered as economic producers, they received training on breeding techniques and on agricultural methods and

marketing and 311 women initiated their income generating activities.

areas, and promoting equal opportunities to the most

vulnerable women in Bordj Bou Arreridj

INSAF of Morocco socio-professional insertion of single

mothers: A society free of discrimination and Violence

The socio-professional reinsertion of around

100 recently employed single mothers in

the work force further to provided training

and counselling.

230 single mothers in the region of

Casablanca have received vocational

training that is conducive to employment

and tailored to their expectations and

capacities.

Work is underway to lobby and ensure the

administrative and legal situation of 90

single mothers in the region of Casablanca

are regularized (civil registration and IDs).
