Fisher House Program

Program began in 1990 1991 - 1999: 24 houses 1999 - 2006: 33 houses 2006 - 2007: 39 houses At all Army, Navy & Air Force major medical

centers Expanding to more VA medical centers

Foundation builds based on needs as validated by Army, Navy, & Air Force Surgeons General and VA Under Secretary for Health

Working with Casualties

The daily fee to stay at a Fisher House is waived for all families of service men and women whose hospitalization is a result of their service in Iraq or Afghanistan. (One room per family)

Liaisons must direct all questions to the Fisher House manager at each medical treatment facility.

If the family of a service member hospitalized due to service in Iraq or Afghanistan can not be accommodated and is wait listed, Fisher House Foundation will ensure the family is not charged for their room at an on base guest house or transient facility, or an off base hotel if no rooms are available at the installation.

When a room becomes available at the Fisher House, the family be asked to move into the Fisher House and payments for the guest house or other facility will stop.

Scholarships for Military Children

Scholarships for Military Children

Current program (School Year 2006-07) Applications closed on February 22nd Received 4,846 applications (255 commissaries)

Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

Provided over $15 million to families of military personnel lost in OEF and OIF.

Now constructing the Center for the Intrepid - a $35 million state-of-art advanced skills training and rehabilitation center at BAMC.

Center will serve severely injured and disabled military personnel from OEF and OIF, personnel injured in other operations, and veterans

Groundbreaking on September 22, open by Jan 1, 2007.
