On-line GPC-GC

From old barn to .… Modern research centre

KAIN is a private company located in an old barn which is transferred into a modern analytical research centre. The company services range from application support to large scale international projects in analytical chemistry.

Volume Overload Clean-up (VOC)

•Gaussian peak, concentration profile

• Quantification, transfer whole peak

• GC injection, fixed large volume •LVI, large volumes problematic: SPE < GPC <GPC-SPE<multi-methods

Why On-line VOC Clean-up

GC injection volumes variable

System configuration can be simple and robust

No sample dilution, high concentrations

High pressure/performance GPC

90% solvent reduction, 50% costprice decrease !

Market potential technique

Key applications, pesticides in fatty matrices, toxic substances, drugs in biological samples, dioxines in fat, environmental substances.

Developed dedicated system

Some of the more confidential findings are not mentioned

• Water miscible extraction solvent, pesticides are polar

• No phase separation as in QUECHERS• Removal fatty acids, water traces on GPC,

normal phase (amino) system• GC injectable eluent• Specifically designed GPC columns give no

adsorption.

Key application 1 – Pesticide in fatty matrices

From system to market

To facilitate the market penetration of this new technique we applied for ECO-Innovation funding with a “system to market” project proposal. As part of this project, a number of key applications will be developed by us and implemented on operational systems which will be placed at a number of selected partner laboratories in Europe for routine usage.

These laboratories will have the exclusive right to exploit the implemented key applications in their country. As additional advantage half of the incurred costs, including acquisition system and implementation/validation, will be covered by the funding. There is still room to participate in this project, laboratories can apply until July 2013.

• Exclusive agreement to exploit one of the developed key applications in your country as partner in a 3 year CIP-EcoInnovation project.

• Participating laboratories in this subsidary project get a refund of 50% of the future development costs (including purchasing and installing the analytical GPC-GC system).

• The switch to a VOC method gives a considerable decrease in costprice and solvent usage which enhances your competitive position.

• A working system will be installed in your laboratory.
