Alternative Fuel Choices for Airport Ground
Transportation
ConferenceMarch 27-30, 2011
All about driving◦ Where◦ How many miles◦ What type of driving◦ How many passengers◦ Spend a lot of time idling
Using the right tool for the right job is efficient
LESS idling – the hybrids essentially shut down when they are idling
LESS emissions – will produce less than two (2) existing internal-combustion engine cabs
LESS waste
Reduce gasoline use Reduce pollution (exhaust and noise) Improve the quality of vehicles (newer
model years) Yellow Cab began the pilot program in 2007
with the 1st hybrid, now up 55 Toyota Camry hybrids.
Global warming◦ Transportation is 2nd only to building energy use
as source of greenhouse gas emissions raising Earth’s temperature and changing climates
◦ Motor vehicles emit 3 major greenhouse gases Carbon dioxide Nitrous oxide Methane
◦ Higher air toxicities
