The 10th Anniversary Season opens with Country Superstar,

Trace Adkins. The Grammy-nominated member of

the Grand Ole Opry is a TV personality, actor, author, spokesman

for the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Red Cross,

for whom he raised over $1.5 million dollars as winner of NBC’s

All-Star Celebrity Apprentice. Rockapella, one of the

progenitors of the astonishing full-band sound of “contemporary”

a cappella, will highlight our holiday season. Comedian Will

Durst will make sure our political season includes some

hilarious jokes. Classic Rock is always a favorite for our

full-house entertainers, Y & T, Pat Travers and

Gamma. Paula Poundstone, one of

our country’s foremost humorists, will be sure not to disappoint.

We continue to celebrate our community’s diversity and very

talented community groups that entertain us with music, plays

and dance.

The Will Durst Election Show: 2016 is a brand-new, hysterical, one-man show stalking the presidential election cycle like white on rice. Ably assisted by his trusty overhead projector, this hilarious 80 minute production reflects Durst’s outraged and outrageous sensibilities, accessing the topical through the jugular, as current as Bernie Sanders’ lead staffer’s latest tweet.

The Legend returns! Based on Washington Irving’s novel, Legend of Sleepy Hollow takes you back to 18th Century America. Follow the incredible story of Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones and the Headless Horseman! Complete with live narration, original music score, exuberant dancing and special effects. Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a terrific Halloween evening of fun for all! Recommended for ages 10 and up.

ELECTION SHOWCOMEDIAN WILL DURST

Davey was invited to the United States from his native Scotland in 1979 by the late Bill Graham to front the band “GAMMA” then being put together by guitarist Ronnie Montrose - “I’d given up all hope of finding a quality singer for GAMMA until I heard Davey Pattison” (Montrose quoted in the Detroit News). Davey arrived with a notebook full of Iyrics and began co-writing the GAMMA hits, “Thunder & Lightning,” “No Tears” and “Razor King” for the band’s first album. Two more albums followed and Davey again co-wrote, most notably, the now classic GAMMA song “Voyager.”

Since the critically acclaimed 1976 debut album featuring his own brand of high quality seventies guitar rock and roll, Pat Travers has gone on to deliver melodic eighties rock, a blues period throughout most of the nineties, noted performances with various power trios during the first few years of the new millennium, and a full blooded return to the trademark Pat Travers Band sound as he entered his fifth performing and recording decade.

Choo Choo Soul is a children’s entertainment act composed of singer Genevieve Goings as a hip-hop train conductor and her partner, Constantine “DC” Abramson, a dancer and beat boxer dressed as a railroad engineer. “Choo-Choo Soul with Beautiful Genevieve!” was honored with a Parents’ Choice Award for children’s television.

Mariachi Mexicanismo was founded on January 7, 1996 in the city of Hayward, California. The mariachi is composed of ten musicians all of who originate from the state of Jalisco, Mexico, with 20 years of performing experience. They most recently had the honor of performing for an Oscar de la Renta red carpet event at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, CA., as well as the Vanity Fair Super Bowl 50 party and 2016 Oscars in Beverly Hills.

Nirvaana Consulting celebrates its 3rd annual Diwali: Festival of Lights, an entertaining evening showcasing Indian culture and traditional music. Dance performances include Indian Classical, Contemporary, Bollywood, Bhangra and Giddah (Punjabi Cultural dance), with a fashion show to light up your Saturday evening.

The Tubes will go down in the rock history books as one of the most exciting, in-your-face tight-knit group of musicians who epitomized the hilarity of popular American culture by making it into the ultimate rock’n’roll extravaganza. Their live shows involved mock bondage rituals, simulated sex, 12-foot high rock stars by the name of Quay Lude singing “White Punks On Dope,” exploding televisions, chainsaws and an array of semi-clad dancers. Some say they were about 15 years ahead of Madonna, and light years ahead of the politically correct.

This unique blend of incredibly talented San Francisco Bay Area musicians brings the highest level of musicianship to the audience while showing a true respect for the music of Journey. They came together with the goal of bringing all of Journey’s music to the hundreds of thousands of Journey fans across the country.

Long Time-Boston Tribute BandThe band, now known as Long Time, delivers high energy performances that capture the layered guitar harmonies and powerful vocals that make up the Boston sound.

Con Funk Shun is a star-quality attraction delivering a superb, high-energy show with electrifying choreography, glistening six-part vocal harmonies, and a dash of humor. They are, unquestionably, among the heroes of Funk with romantic balladsand dance-party hits galore. They’ve become one of the world’s most sophisticated, lasting, and imitated vocal groups around today. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more influential group out there in this new era of network television a cappella shows like NBC’s The Sing-Off, movies like Pitch Perfect, and innumerable college vocal groups that own the corner of cool on campuses everywhere.

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the ‘80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe.

Night after night, Tommy Castro, a fierce and fiery road warrior, fervently delivers his driving, blues-soaked soul-bringing music to fans all over the word. Dancing with the Tracy Stars is an event that has the whole Tracy community talking! Similar to the popular TV show, six of Tracy’s prominent community members are paired up with professional ballroom dancers to learn a ballroom dance routine over a one-week period.

Choosing the right venue is essential for a memorable and successful event. The venue must offer convenience, up-to-date technology, and professional management, at a rate that fits your budget. The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts has all of the above. Plus, there is an intangible “wow” factor that comes with The Grand.

The Grand Theatre opened in 1923 as a vaudeville house at the center of downtown Tracy. The Grand was in its heyday in 1941 as a local movie theatre and was treated to an Art Deco makeover. The period-sculptured marquee is still in place today. A 20-year visionary, civic-community partnership created the culturally, enrichment-focused Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, which opened in 2007.

The Grand is owned and operated by the City of Tracy and managed by City staff who are experts in event and facility management. This municipal, interdisciplinary arts center is the only one of its kind in California offering professional and community fine arts programming through arts education, exhibition and performances. All performance and classroom spaces are available for rent at very reasonable rates.
