GAZETTE Preserving and Promoting Downtown Libertyville MAY 2015 A NON PROFIT VOLUNTEER BASED ORGANIZATION • A GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARD WINNER Annual Golf Outing Celebrates 10 th Anniversary Eleven years ago, the MainStreet Board of Directors decided to diversify its fundraising efforts. Previously, MainStreet’s only fundraiser was Oktoberfest. Bill Hume, MainStreet volunteer, had an “aha moment!” What about a golf outing that welcomes all levels of players with the focus on fun? That philoso- phy remains today. Whether it is the golf committee’s planning sessions, the con- tests on the holes provided by the sponsors, or, most im- portantly, the golfers, it is known as “The most fun golf outing in Lake County”. In fact, maybe this year we will have another hole in one! Co-chairs John and Ginny Dereu and Bill Hume, along with their committee, Mau- reen Hunt, Marty Neal, Ray Nierstheimer, Bob Killackey (original committee member), John Edgecomb and Jeff Lovinger are working hard to make this event the best yet! A sellout for the past 7 years – Make your reservation today! Date: June 22, 2015 Location: Glen Flora Country Club, Waukegan, IL Early registration: $135 by June 8; $150 after (No cancellations after June 15) Doors Open: 9:30 am; shotgun start 11:30 am Includes: cart, hot buffet lunch, dinner, cocktail reception, prizes Register online at www.mainstreetlibertyville.org or call 847-680-0336 Thank You to Sponsors Fresh Start Business Incubator, Ace Hardware, Libertyville, Mickey Finn’s Brewery & Pub Food (original sponsor) and Nationwide Insurance, Jim Kelly. Historic Home Tour 2015 by Design Co-Chairman Nan Grupe Saturday, June 6th marks the date for MSL’s 12th annual Historic Home Tour. Our homeowners look forward to sharing the stories and histories of their homes and gardens while guests experience their unique characteristics and architectural details. The tour theme repeats last years’, “Bridging the Architecture of the Past with the Present,” by opening five homes built between 1870 and 2006. Each of these homes de- omonstrate recognizable architectural styles that include Arts and Crafts, Queen Anne, Victorian Italianate, Chicago Brick Bungalow, and Farmhouse. The Cook Mansion, a Victorian remodeled with a classic colonial portico, will also be included. The Design Committee believes this tour theme is very relevant for how we view not only historic preservation, but also energy conservation in 2015. Today’s building costs often prohibit constructing homes with the materials used in the past, let alone the craftsmanship required to create the intricate details found in classic architectural styles. Yet, our newer homes on the tour have captured the spirit of authentic architectural styling while incorporating the energy efficiencies that enhance the health, safety, comfort, and durability needed in modern residential buildings. The tour booklet and wristband can be ordered online at mainstreetlibertyville.org, in advance, with a $15 per person donation to Main Street Libertyville. The donation will be $20 on the event day. MSL volunteers will be in Cook Park on June 6th beginning at 9:30am to distribute booklets and wristbands for pick up or purchase. Our event sponsors are Builders Cabinet, Chelle Design Group, Townee Square Restaurant, Martin John, JB Brickworks and Allstate. Inside... MainStreet Membership & Social Media 307 Brainerd Ave

MainStreet Libertyville, Inc. Letter from the ChairmanJeffrey Lovinger, Board Chairman

As spring returns to MainStreet Libertyville, I want to share some of our successes fromlast year as well as our plans going forward. MainStreet Libertyville had a very successful2014 not only with profits, but excellent events attended by record numbers as well. This could not be accomplished without you, our residents! Please continue to supportMainStreet through your membership; it is a small cost to help us make Libertyville thejewel of Lake County.

In 2014 we gave back to thedowntown by installing andmaintaining the white LEDbuilding roofline lighting. Itmade our Village look like theshining star that it is! We willcontinue to improve and expandthe lighting project throughoutthe year. This year we are alsoworking with the village on 2-3information kiosks in downtown;these will help visitors find theirway through town and provideinformation on all the greatthings happening in Libertyville.

Finally, I’d like to introduce MainStreet Libertyville's newest board members. StephanieHuffman has joined our board as treasurer and a member of the executive committee.Stephanie brings her CPA skills and great new ideas to the board. We are also happy towelcome Tim Shanahan as co-chair of the Business Matters committee and Mark Andersonas co-chair for our design committee.

See you this spring on MainStreet!

Our volunteers count, and they deliver over 50 events a year so we make a pointof celebrating their achievements!

How can we find you on social media?Conversations are going on about Libertyville at the MainStreet Facebook page,Google Plus, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.
