About SOCOMORE
Since 1972, SOCOMORE has been creating, manufacturing and commercialising expert solutions for
the preparation, treatment, protection and testing of metallic and composite surfaces and materials.
Our solutions are designed for manufacturing and maintenance operations in the Transport Industry
(Aerospace, Automotive, Rail), Energy Industry, and any other industry working with metals and/ or
composites.
While our base camp, along with our main R&D laboratory and administrative departments, is
located in Vannes, France, we are an international company with 13 subsidiaries, 8 plants located
throughout Europe, the Americas, Middle-East and Asia. This gives us the ability to provide our
customers, transnational and national, worldwide with a truly global service.

Our scientific expertise in material and mineral physics, organic and electro-chemistry, combined
with our laboratories, is the centrepiece of our product development strategy.
We have 4 laboratories in 3 countries:
Vannes, France (main lab)
Plaisir, France
Through monitoring the main technological, economic and regulatory trends in our markets, we
work on the development of new products to meet the future requirements of our global clients.
Our research protocols target the reduction of VOC* emissions and the substitution of hexavalent
chromium and other CMR** substances via a new generation of products. We offer solutions to
our clients that take the environment and changes in Environment, Health & Safety regulations into
account.
Our products are the fruit of our R&D and global technology partnerships. We actively participate in
research programmes lead by universities and technical centres in Europe and North America. We
also work with global manufacturers on the development and qualification of products.
Our experienced Technical Support teams have an in-depth knowledge of the technologies used by
our clients, their work methods, the complexity of their processes and their constraints. They
contribute to the technical specifications of our clients and jointly develop new products. Based in
North America, Asia and Europe, they support our sales teams and our clients, and train them in the
use of our products on site.

Acquisitions & Recent Developments
Historically our activity was based in France, and mainly with our aerospace neighbors: Airbus in Loire Atlantique in Western France. In 1998 we made a shift towards internationalization with a new development in Europe: creating trading subsidiaries to allow us to be closer to our clients and listen to their needs. From 2000, we established trading subsidiaries in high growth areas for passenger traffic and aerospace manufacturing and maintenance centers. This was followed by the acquisition of existing companies with whom synergies were found.

Recent developments
In March 2016, SOCOMORE and METAL-CHEK, a leader in NDT in South America, created a joint venture called SOCOMORE Ltda (60% SOCOMORE & 40% METAL-CHEK), reflecting our desire to be closer to our customers and have a permanent presence in Brazil and South America. Also in 2016, SOCOMORE acquired LORD Corporation’s Aerospace Coatings and can now offer a complete range including AEROGLAZE & CHEMGLAZE erosion and emissive or solar radiation protection coatings, and ULTRACONDUCTIVE coatings for Lightning Strike Protection. In May 2017, SOCOMORE also acquired ELIXAIR, a UK company. We procured the pre-saturated wipe range, and signed an exclusive licence for their composite plastic scrapers which are used for removing cured sealants. These products are complementary to SOCOMORE’s solvents and pre-saturated wipes for cleaning adhesive tape, adhesive, and non-cured sealant residues.
MagChem: Solvents, surface treatments, and already a partner.
BabbCo: NDT. A strong added value, and a critical activity.
Dysol & Dynamold: North American partners. Buyout to enter the US market, especially Boeing and their subcontractors and to have approved complementary ranges (solvents and shims).
PT Technologies Europe: Solvents, degreasers, particularly pre-saturated wipes. Complementary product ranges. Also gained an Energy product range.

Growth History & Territory Expansion
Year on year, thanks to our acquisitions, collaborations and growing multinational commercial teams, SOCOMORE has continued to develop and expand internationally. We should soon achieve our goal of becoming a medium-sized business with a global reach and client base. Looking at the last 4 years, we can see clear growth across key indicators.
Territory Expansion
Since 2010, we have expanded internationally, particularly in North America, but also in other areas where we want to be present – Asia, Middle-East, Brazil and India – to be close to where our customers are. In the last 4 years, we can see real growth outside of Europe, while continuing to maintain a strong position in Europe. All of this is in keeping with our strategy to consolidate and reinforce our position in Europe, while developing North America in particular, and making our products readily available in other territories.

A collaborative way of working internally
SOCOPOLIS is the name for our innovative concept to build the SOCOMORE of the future with our employees. SOCOPOLIS is also the name of a company created in October 2016, which will build and own the new Base Camp building in Vannes. Each employee can buy a symbolic ‘brick’, which will equal one share in the building.
