HFC Drop in replacements in most cases do not require a change of lubricant type, however manufacturers’ guidance as well as good engineering practice should be followed.

PaperworkMETRACLARK will provide their customers with an Environmental Services Request Form which is to be completed by the customer.

One copy is kept by the customer and another copy is returned to METRACLARK with the pump down or recovery cylinder.

CustomersCustomers must ensure that the cylinder number is clearly stated on their ES Request Form. This is in order to ensure full traceability of the cylinder.

The form and the cylinder must be returned to METRACLARK at the same time.

PackagingA-GAS provides a fleet of dedicated recovery and pump down cylinders with specialised valve technology.

This allows engineers to retrieve waste refrigerant in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

We have 8kg and 45kg cylinders as well as 850kg drums. The cylinders are available on a rental basis.

METRACLARK provides dedicated recovery and pump down cylinders to customers as requested.

LaboratoryReturned cylinders are sent to the laboratory at A-GAS.

The A-GAS laboratory is fully equipped to check refrigerants for moisture, residues, non-condensables and acidity to ensure refrigerant, after cleaning, complies with AHRI 700 standards and therefore can be classified under SANS 10147:2009 as ‘reclaimed’.

CertificationA-GAS will issue a certificate to the customer which ensures traceability of the returned refrigerant.

A-GAS provides customers with the necessary means to be able to meet the requirements of SANS 10147:2009 standards pertaining to refrigerant reclamation and recycling. As stated in the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (39/2004): Regulations regarding the phasing-out and management of ozone-depleting substances 37621, it is ILLEGAL to release refrigerant into the atmosphere. Our services include the supply of recovery and pump down cylinders/drums, purity testing of refrigerant as well as a waste management program.

IntroductionHoneywell Genetron® Performax™ LT (R407F), a ternary blend of HFC refrigerants R32/R125/R134a serves as a zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) replacement for HCFC refrigerant R22, in various commercial refrigeration applications, particularly in low temperature applications.

Since Genetron® Performax™ LT is a close match to R22, it also serves as a retrofit fluid in applications where R22 is used. Genetron® Performax™ LT is the best performing lower global-warming-potential refrigerant for new supermarket installations with improved energy efficiency compared to other HFCs. It is a better alternative to R404A in both low- and medum-temperature supermarket applications since it has a higher capacity and efficiency than R404A.

Genetron® Performax™ LT is not a “drop-in” replacement and lubricants such as mineral oil and alkylbenzene that have traditionally been used with R22 are immiscible with Genetron® Performax™ LT. Miscible synthetic lubricants such as polyolester should be used to ensure adequate oil return.
