Preterite of Regular Verbs
& -car, -gar, -zar
Preterite Verbs
•Preterite means “past tense”•Preterite verbs deal with “completed past action”•The ending tells who did the action.
-AR Preterite Endings•Just as -o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an tell you that the action takes place in the present,
-é, -aste, -ó, -amos, asteis, -aron, tell you that the action took place in the past.

Preterite (no stem-change for –ar)
•-ar verbs that have a stem change in the present tense do not in the preterite.

Preterite (no stem-change for –ar)
•Verbs whose infinitive ends in -car ,-gar, or -zar have a spelling change in the yo form. All of their other preterite forms are regular!!!!

Reflexive Verbs in PreteriteWe conjugate reflexive verbs in the preterite the same way as the present tense, we just use PRETERITE ENDINGS. me/te/se/nos/se IN FRONT of the conjugated verb.
