This range of panels are built on the continent, using a rebated frame to ensure a strong and durable panel and are supplied pressure treated for maximum protection.

They are suitable for use with either standard or reeded timber posts or will fit within the 'H' section concrete posts. If using these panels with concrete gravel boards, a pair of timber fillets are required.

All heights given are to the tallest point. For shoulder measurements please reduce the given height by 200mm.

Recommended Fence Post Sizes

We strongly recommend a minimum of 600mm (2ft) of fence post into the ground. Certain conditions, such as slopes and soft ground, will require longer fence posts.

The strength of the post is dictated by the section size. For heavier panels, such as the Double Sided Paled Panels, a minimum of 75mm x 100mm is recommended for the shorter sizes, while 100mm x 100mm posts would be more appropriate for the taller panels. For lighter panels such as trellis and lattice, 75mm x 75mm section posts should be sufficient.

As a general rule, base your post decision around the weight and height of the panel, and how exposed the fence will be to the wind.

Concrete Posts & Gravel BoardsDrycast concrete posts have a rough cast surface that is uniform on both faces and are slotted on two opposite sides in a H pattern to allow panels to be easily inserted. We also stock an end post which has a single slot, and a corner post which has two slots on adjoining sides.

The gravel boards are supplied in an imperial 6’ length (1828mm). When using the gravel boards under the metric sized (1800mm) premium panels don’t forget to use packing fillets available from stock.

To ensure accurate results, we always recommend installing gate posts before the measurements for bespoke gates are taken.Once the gate posts are in place, take three measurements from between the posts – top, middle, and bottom – and reduce the SMALLEST measurement by 30mm for driveway gates, or 15mm for single gates. This measurement is now the width of gate required, providing a neat fit while allowing for the natural swelling that is a feature of timber gates. Don’t forget to allow for 40-50mm of clearance beneath the gate too.

We now offer a full CNC engraving service for all bespoke gates and gates posts. It’s a great way to personalise the entrance to your home!

Metal Fixing SpikesManufactured from heavy gauge steel with a protective coating, metal post supports are designed to allow the erection of fence posts in minutes without the need for digging holes or mixing concrete. The spikes are ideal for use in less exposed areas for temporary fencing while the bolt-downs make fixing to paths or driveways easy. Available in two styles: the traditional wedge-grip which grips the post as it is knocked into the support, and the bolt-grip which grips the post by tightening two bolts.

FirewoodAt Earnshaws we know our timber and have been cutting firewood since 1860 so you can buy with confidence.

Our range of firewood logs are either air-dried or kiln-dried before sale, with moisture contents as low as 16 percent, and an even more impressive 6 percent for our briquettes.

Nothing beats the glow and cosy warmth of a real fire, the aroma of a barbecue or the taste of a wood fired pizza! You can burn our well-seasoned firewood logs indoors or outdoors, all year round, knowing they are as efficient and clean burning as possible.

In addition to our range of firewood, we also stock firelighters, indoor and outdoor log stores, as well as fireside accessories, buckets and fire guards.

A GreatTraditionIn FencingRecords show that the Earnshaw family has been connected with the timber trade since 1780.

The business today, which was founded in 1860, carries the name of Job Earnshaw, who worked falls of timber in the local area near Wakefield. Soon his brothers joined him in the venture, and a small sawmill was built on the Midgley site, producing parts for horse drawn carts, gates, fence posts, rails and various items used in agriculture.

The company is still owned and managed by descendants of the founders and we still maintain the same service tradition that was so important back in the 1860s. While the company has adapted and changed over the years we have built on those years of experience to be true experts in our field.

Many of the products we sell today are still made by hand in our workshops where

quality and durability are second nature.

Earnshaws Sustainability Programme Interbranch TransfersYou will normally find we have what you are looking for in stock at all three centres. However, from time to time less popular lines may only be in stock and in bulk at our Midgley Centre. We will happily transfer the stock you need for collection at your nearest centre – so please feel free to ask the staff on site. If you are looking for a very specific line or a large quantity please phone ahead to check that it’s in stock.
