Hello Quilters!!!

My quilting friends and I have decided that we don’t need any more material. That’s right, I said it out loud!!! I recently was challenged to write down how many unfinished quilts I had and how many kits….I was pretty smug! I thought, shoot, I don’t have many…..yikes...

When we wrote the list and com-pared with each other we all said the same things, “no more material for me,” “if I buy another kit, just slap my hand,” “I have strength, I can walk past those sales and that pretty material.”

Then we were walking into a quilt show recently and we all looked at each other and smiled and said the same thing, “all bets are off at quilt shows!”

So…we all have a lot of everything, but have you ever seen a really sad quilter!!!

Keep your seams straight and your machines oiled and keep on quilting!!!

Saturday Sew-InOur next Saturday Sew will be Saturday, November 5th, from 9 am – 4 pm at the Plainfield Township Adminis-tration Building, 22525 W. Lockport Street, Plainfield.

This facility has very easy access to unload – pull up to the side door and unload. There is plenty of park-ing available and a kitchen for our use with a refrigerator, microwave and stove. I will be bringing an ironing board, iron and cutting boards. You bring your machine and project(s) and, if you wish, your Sew-Eze table, chair and a snack to share. Or you can bring a project for hand sewing if you wish.

DIRECTIONS: The Plainfield Township Administration Building is located across from Four Seasons Park, on the south side of Lockport Street with I-55 directly on the east side. There is no I-55 exit at Lockport Street. If you are coming from Weber Road, turn west on Lockport Street and the building will be immediately after you cross over I-55 on the south side (left). If you are coming from Rt. 59, turn east on Lockport Street in down-town Plainfield and you will see the building on your right hand side just before you get to I-55.

ProgramsThe remaining months continue to have some wonderfully talented quilters coming who will share their pas-sions with us. Please look below for a brief summary of what they will bring to our membership:

November 17, 2016 Yellow Creek Designs. These two sisters, Jill and Vicki, own a quilt shop in Pecatonica, IL. They have written two books, and their second fabric line made its debut in May, 2016. They’re also begin-ning their second monthly club using their patterns and fabrics. If you’re interested in finding out more about them or their products, please visit their website: www.yellowcreekquiltdesigns.com. Their quilt shop was highlighted in the Better Homes and Garden Quilt Sampler magazine in 2011.

Also, in the latest issue of Keepsake Quilting, their “Stars in the Garden” quilt kit is featured.

December 8, 2016 Catherine Redford will be speaking on “Language of Flowers”. She is a member of Naperville’s modern quilt guild and also does traditional quilting. Catherine teaches English paper piecing, beading and is a fiber artist as well. She will be teaching in Houston next month.

Her projects can be seen in previous issues of Modern Machine Quilting magazine and Modern Patch-work magazine. More information can be found on her website, which is: www.catherineredford.com

January 19, 2017 Thelma Childers (www.cupcakesndaisies.com) will be giving a trunk show. She was a 1st place winner for bed quilts at Paducah (2015), for her quilt, “Coastal Lilies”, a pattern by Minick and Simpson. If you visit her website, you’ll see her latest Halloween quilt. You can also see all of her “Lifetime Quilts”. You will want to read more than one or two blogs…Have fun!

February 16, 2017 Denise Havlin will be giving a trunk show. She has won many national and international awards for her art quilts. Some of her latest awards include her quilt “That Secret” (Best Pictorial 2015 Pa-cific International Quilt Festival) and “Plainly, Not Simple” (1st place Innovative category at the 2015 World Quilt Competition). Please see her website, denisehavlin.com for her awards and exhibits, general information and more. While there, if you look under the “What’s New” tab, she offers a glimpse into her sewing/creating space. If you click on the “Quilts” tab, you will find a plethora of lovely creations!

Thank you, again, for your interest in our speakers, topics and workshops! See you next month.

Until then,

Carol O’Del [email protected] Eileen Diercks [email protected]
