Stream of Study - Science, Cambridge

Class of 2015

During my two years at the school, Geekay provided a balanced environment to learn and discover. Not only does it have a brilliant infrastructure and a well equipped laboratory, but also the teachers are welcoming, friendly and always open for a discussion. Opting science stream was a difficult decision, but the teaching curriculum at Geekay allowed students to be comfortable transitioning through a challenging curriculum, like Cambridge.

QUIZ WEEK

‘The quest for knowledge, like everything else of value, is not to be obtained easily. It must be worked for, studied for, thought for, and more than that must be prayed for’. To encourage the students to widen their knowledge, our school has organized the inter house quiz activity. The first round of quiz was conducted class wise and four were selected from each class according to the respective house.

The second round of quiz was conducted during the assembly. All the teams were well prepared and the competition was very tough. Students surprised the audience with their in-depth knowledge and the participants from their respective house participated enthusiastically. The questions were asked from different subjects like science, sports, general knowledge and so on. All the participants put their effort to compete with each other. Water house was announced as the winner of the inter house quiz competition.

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITY: FUN WITH CLAY (G1 – G3)

“Kids have fun and funky sensation squashing and trampling the clay. We conducted ‘Fun with clay’ activity for Lower primary students on 17th of February. Students participated with a lot of gaiety and enthusiasm. The tactile hands on nature of clay made children get engrossed while allowing for a high degree of creativity. The little hands worked smoothly and efficiently to fulfil their heart’s desires and fantasies. Manipulation with clay provided an outlet for children to physically convey their emotions and reduce stress. They pounded, squeezed, rolled and blended the clay to make some unique and amazing creations and displayed them with pride. This outstanding sensory activity enhanced dexterity, gross and fine motor skills and helped to boost the self-confidence of the students. It promoted problem solving skills as they experimented with the building techniques and adapted to changes along the way. It was a great way to develop imagination and sparkle creativity to think out of the box.

IBT Report: Australian Council's International Benchmark Test (IBT) has been one of the strongest and well accepted Value adds to TGWS. We are glad to inform you that keeping the uncertainty period of time in mind and to support our students in appearing for this test; the management has taken up the cost for the IBT benchmark online test at home for the academic year 20-21. The IBT benchmark test helps us in evaluating students against specific grade-level standards and learning goals rather than simply taking a quick pulse of understanding. The home online IBT test for this year was conducted as per the following schedule;

6th Feb, 2021 - English 10th Feb, 2021- Math and 13th Feb, 2021- Science

What can I say? The Geekay World School is without doubt the best school I have ever studied in. All the classes taken here are really interactive. The teachers help us understand any hard concept easily. Coming to sports, the school has a well- maintained football pitch, a basketball court, a tennis court and all the equipments needed to play. And the GC3 which is our Annual day celebration, is the grandest in town, with a big stage, a lot of bright lights, stalls among other things that brighten the event and of course we the students who give the event life. How can I not talk about the infrastructure when speaking about TGWS? The school has top class amenities with everything that a Number 1 day-cum boarding school in the whole state of Tamil Nadu needs. Even during period of the pandemic, the management and teachers have done their best to give us the same standard of education in the comfort of our homes. Hats off to the school that never fails to help us students to think and live beyond.

The Geekay World School is best in its infrastructure, academics and extra-curricular activities. Students even get good training in sports that helps make them fit and fresh every day. The school is especially excellent when it comes to skating and swimming training. There is an always an efficient and seamless communication between the teachers and parents. There are two curriculums being followed, namely CBSE and CAIE, both of which are taught in the most fun and innovative manner. Overall the school is amazing.

All of us are not perfect, but we can always try to reach perfection. Sometimes we do not recognize who we are because the mirror we see and recognize ourselves in, has the tendency to be shattered into pieces. This TGWS family can always be counted on by the students to help them pick each and every piece of the mirror so that they could see a better version of themselves. The facilitators are always open to lending their ears for our words and their shoulders for us to cry on. Their care towards our academic and physical performance is really encouraging and motivational. The advanced facilities in the school like the science and computer labs, the swimming pool, skating rink, athletic fields and courts, give us a chance to broaden our experience and knowledge. We also have extra-curricular opportunities like club activities, arts and crafts and performing arts which help us build our skills and increase our prospects for a fine career. I take pride in the fact that my school is always striving for perfection and succeeding. I find it as safe and comfortable as my home.

MY CHOICE OF CAREER Everyone is aware of choosing a right career which is essential for both economic securities as well as attaining a sense of accomplishment in life. I am a student of bio-technology with a master degree in it. I got an opportunity to work in the field of research labs, the profession I had been longing for. Life went on. Once getting settled in life, just like other busy mom, I too was held up with house hold chores and kids routine kept me engaged, which led me to take break in my career. Though I was an ambitious person, there had been tough times where I felt low for not knowing how to continue my profession.

This thought pre-occupied my mind over a period of time. Later, at one point in life, I realised the fact that I need to be assertive and keep myself as a busy beaver. It was during the time of my kid’s examination, I trained them personally and their exam result put me in surprise! This motivated me to start my new career as a teacher, which I have never dreamt of.

At first, I thought a teacher’s job is just to train the students for their examination but there is more to it which I would like to share here. I became a learner myself as teachers are life- long learners. I had to act, sing, dance during the process of training students in various activities due to which I could unveil many hidden talents within me. I feel overwhelmed whenever kids give me hugs, lovely greeting cards as a token of love and appreciation with beautiful caption inscribed in it. Though we may call ourselves teachers, it actually takes years of experience to actually feel like one. With every student, there is a different kind of teacher in me now and I believe that is the real hidden talent of any teacher. On the other hand, I am glad to have taken up the role of shaping up the future generation and I truly love this contribution to the society.

Parent Speaks

TGWS has taken a remarkable step for regulating studies during this tough pandemic situation. We appreciate the open culture followed in the school which was highly motivating. Teaching and learning methodologies are extraordinary and kids were always encouraged to interact with their teachers. The school is been extending its help not only for the academic growth but also shapes the overall development of the child. Her recent interest in singing, art and story narration is commendable. Everyone is learning to be passionate, curious, creative and innovative. As a parent we are completely fulfilled looking at her tremendous growth. Almost everything in the school is near to perfection and we feel TGWS is the best school that address all the needs to the level of satisfaction!!!
