Finance in briefChancellor’s Autumn Statement 2011:• Continued commitment to reducing national structural

deficit.• Public spending target to be maintained.

ESCC context:• 2011/12 - £37m savings required • 2012/13 – additional £51m savings required over 3 years• Children’s Services Department - £8.9m gap • £5m savings have been proposed so far• County Council considering investment plan in February to

help close gap
