“I’ve trusted A/T for over 18 years, and I trust them more now than ever.

Over 18 years ago, I purchased a VacStar® evacuation system, a ScanX® Classic flexible phosphor

sensor digital radiography system, and then an AirStar® compressor. They’re all still going strong.

I added a Spectra® Caries Detection Aid, a Polaris® Intraoral Camera, and a new ScanX Classic.

My patients love Spectra and how it lets us practice less invasive dentistry by finding decay at early,

easy-to-treat stages. Polaris gives me exceptional image quality, and ScanX takes radiographs of

digital solution.

I’ve been a big A/T fan since 1995, and I’ve never been a bigger fan than I am today.”

U.S. Army Awards Lockheed Martin $78 Million Contract for ATACMS Modernization

January 7, 2015 DALLAS, TX -- Lockheed Martin received a $78 million contract from the U.S. Army for upgrades to the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). The program will take hardware from early-production ATACMS Block 1 missiles and develop an enhanced and affordable weapon system capable of eliminating targets without the risk of unexploded ordnance, which meets the U.S. Army’s long-range precision strike requirement. The program’s first phase will include flight tests, followed by production beginning in 2016. Work will be performed at Lockheed Martin facilities in Camden, Arkansas, and Dallas. “ATACMS is extremely reliable and effective, and has proven itself over and over again in combat,” said Ken Musculus, vice president of Tactical Missiles for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “These upgrades ensure ATACMS is ready to meet our customers’ needs now and in the future.” As the U.S. Army’s only tactical long-range precision strike surface-to-surface weapon, ATACMS provides critical military capabilities. More than 560 ATACMS missiles have been fired in combat and the system has demonstrated extremely high rates of accuracy and reliability. Each ATACMS missile is packaged in a Guided Missile Launch Assembly pod and is fired from the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) family of launchers. Lockheed Martin has produced more than 3,700 ATACMS missiles, with more than 20 years of on-time deliveries. The company’s Camden Operations has received more than 60 awards over the last decade, including the 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Shingo Silver Medallion Award for Operation Excellence.

Raytheon and General Dynamics Joint Venture Awarded U.S. Air Force Launch and Test Range

Contract

January 9, 2015 DULLES, VA -- The U.S. Air Force has awarded one of its most important space procurements, potentially a multi-billion-dollar contract to operate, maintain, and sustain launch ranges at Florida's Space Coast and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, to a joint venture of Raytheon and General Dynamics.

The joint venture, called Range Generation Next (RGNext) is responsible for operations, as well as organizational and depot-level maintenance and sustainment for safe and effective launch, testing, and tracking of Department of Defense, civil, commercial, and international spacelift vehicles. It will also support ballistic missile, guided weapon, and aeronautical tests and evaluations. The $1.5 billion, single-award contract has a one-year base period with nine one-year options. Raytheon and General Dynamics formed RGNext to pursue the opportunity, known as the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center's Launch and Test Range System (LTRS) Integrated Support (LISC) contract, supporting the U.S. Air Force Space Command. Existing operations and maintenance at the Eastern and Western launch ranges and the engineering and sustainment work for the entire LTRS are being consolidated into LISC, primarily a fixed-price-incentive firm (target) contract. “Together, Raytheon and General Dynamics offer the U.S. Air Force more than 40 years of operations and maintenance experience, along with leadership across information technology domains,” said Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services. “In this cost-sensitive environment, LISC will deliver efficiencies and economies of scale that could not be obtained under separate contracts. Our team is eager to play its part in helping the customer ensure safe mission operations.” “As part of this proven team, General Dynamics Information Technology will leverage lessons learned and proven processes to ensure the ranges continue as the nation's premier launch facilities,” said Dan Johnson, president of General Dynamics Information Technology.

NASA, Boeing, SpaceX Outline Objectives to Station Flights

January 26, 2015 KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL -- American spacecraft systems testing followed by increasingly complex flight tests and ultimately astronauts flying orbital flights will pave the way to operational missions during the next few years to the International Space Station. Those were the plans laid out Monday by NASA’s Commercial Crew Program

officials and partners as they focus on developing safe, reliable and cost-effective spacecraft and systems that will take astronauts to the station from American launch complexes. According to Boeing, the company’s schedule calls for a pad abort test in February 2017, followed by an uncrewed flight test in April 2017, then a flight with a Boeing test pilot and a NASA astronaut in July 2017. SpaceX said they anticipate a pad abort test in about a month, then an in-flight abort test later this year as part of its previous development phase. An uncrewed flight test is planned for late 2016 and a crewed flight test in early 2017. Speaking for the first time together since the awarding of the final development and certification contracts, officials from NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, Boeing and SpaceX revealed some of the details of their plans to cross the chasm from spacecraft and launch system design to flight tests, certification and operational missions to the station. “It’s an incredible testament to American ingenuity and know-how, and an extraordinary validation of the vision we laid out just a few years ago as we prepared for the long-planned retirement of the space shuttle,” said Charlie Bolden, NASA administrator, during the briefing at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. “This work is part of a vital strategy to equip our nation with the technologies for the future and inspire a new generation of explorers to take the next giant leap for America.” Boeing and SpaceX were selected in September 2014 to finalize their respective CST-100 and Crew Dragon spacecraft along with the rockets that will lift them into orbit and all of the ground and mission operations networks essential for safe flights. Both companies have worked with NASA’s Commercial Crew Program throughout multiple development phases, continuing to

Page 46: Prime - April 2015

advance their designs before being chosen to complete their systems, reach certification and then fly astronauts to the station. The goal of NASA’s effort is to provide an American launch vehicle and spacecraft capable of safely carrying astronauts to the station. Unlike other NASA spacecraft, though, this new generation of human-rated vehicles will be designed, built, operated and owned by the companies themselves, not NASA. NASA will buy space transportation services from the companies for astronauts and powered cargo. It will be an arrangement like the one the agency uses already with the Commercial Resupply Services initiative that uses privately developed and operated rockets and spacecraft to deliver critical cargo to the station. “There are launch pads out there already being upgraded and there is hardware already being delivered,” said Kathy Lueders, manager of the Kennedy Space Center-based Commercial Crew Program. “Both companies have already accomplished their first milestones.” The new spacecraft will allow the station's crew to expand to seven astronauts and cosmonauts, which means twice as much time for research aboard the one-of-a-kind scientific platform – 80 hours a week instead of the current 40. Also, the handoff of flight to low-Earth orbit will permit NASA to pursue the challenges of deep space exploration and the journey to Mars with the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. Boeing and SpaceX each proposed a set of objectives and milestones that suits their development, testing and flight plans. NASA’s role is to evaluate progress and make sure it meets stringent safety requirements, including a safe launch abort system built in to provide astronauts a means of escaping a potentially catastrophic situation. The agency placed a premium on giving providers the freedom to come up with innovations in design, manufacturing and testing. Ultimately, NASA expects to have two separate spacecraft and launch systems it can turn to for flights of crew to the station and low-Earth orbit. The companies also can provide space transportation services to private citizens, companies and institutions in what could become a new industry for the American aerospace sector. The STS-135 mission, the final flight of the space shuttle, delivered an American flag to the station as a prize for the first Commercial Crew astronauts to visit the orbiting laboratory. A second flag will be taken to the station and brought back as a symbol of success as well. “When we have both of these flags on the ground with their crews safely returned, we'll all be winners,” Lueders said.

Exelis Wins Interim Redesign Contract for U.S. Navy’s Tactical Jammer

January 26, 2015 CLIFTON, NJ -- Exelis has received a U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center contract valued at $15.3 million to perform essential sustainment work on the ALQ-99 tactical jamming system. The ALQ-99 is used on the Navy’s EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft. The technology will also be provided to the Australian government through a Foreign Military Sales program, the first time the ALQ-99 has been made available to an international ally. Under the contract, Exelis will redesign three modules—components of the ALQ-99’s universal exciter upgrade shop-replaceable assembly—to extend the service life of the Navy’s principal standoff jammer. As part of the redesign, Exelis will replace legacy application-specific electronic components with modern field-programmable technology, enhancing reliability and the system’s ability to adapt to changing mission needs. The work will also include extensive qualification testing to ensure that the aircraft can operate successfully in challenging environments. “The ALQ-99 is expected to continue supporting the Navy’s electronic attack mission for several years until a next-generation solution is fielded,” said Mitch Friedman, vice president and general manager of the Exelis integrated electronic warfare systems business. “This critical interim support will equip the system to handle the evolving threat landscape and allow U.S. and allied forces to continue dominating the electromagnetic spectrum.” For the first time, this contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy and the government of Australia through a Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales program. Work is expected to be completed by June 2017. The ALQ-99 is part of a suite of electronic warfare (EW) technologies designed to enable domestic and international customers to perform their critical missions. Leveraging its decades of innovation and experience in the electromagnetic spectrum, Exelis has identified EW as one of the company’s four strategic growth platforms.

Digital Modular Radios by General Dynamics Quadruples U.S. Navy Network Communications

Capacity with New Software

February 4, 2015 FAIRFAX, VA -- General Dynamics’ four-channel Digital Modular Radios (DMR) are being upgraded with high-frequency dynamic routing (HFDR) software to turn the radio's four channels into eight virtual channels. In addition to HFDR, the new high-frequency virtual channel exploitation software expands the DMR's communications capacity to16 virtual channels when operating in the high frequency (HF) line-of-sight and ultra-high frequency (UHF) satellite communications frequencies. With the two new software upgrades, the U.S. Navy has four-times more capacity for secure HF communications without adding additional hardware or changing the configuration in space-constrained shipboard radio rooms. The Navy began equipping surface and subsurface ships and a number of land-based locations with the DMR in 1998, and there are currently 500 secure, four-channel DMR radios supporting Navy operations worldwide. Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics Mission Systems, said, “As the first software-defined radio to be used by the U.S. military, DMR continues to produce long-term cost-effectiveness for the Navy because these technology advancements use software, avoiding time-consuming and cost-intensive hardware replacements.” General Dynamics engineers are also working to integrate the new Mobile User Objective Systems (MUOS) waveform into the DMR radios. The waveform is the digital dial tone needed to connect to the U.S. military's new narrowband MUOS satellite communications system. Once the MUOS network is operational, Navy personnel will experience the global reach, voice clarity and connection speeds similar to their cell phones they use at home. Built using open architecture standards, the DMR radios will continue to provide improved functionality and interoperability while accommodating next-generation communications waveforms like MUOS, the Integrated Waveform and future advanced network communications waveforms.

Army Awards Lockheed Martin $82 Million Sustainment Contract for Apache

Targeting/Night Vision System

February 9, 2015 ORLANDO, FL -- Lockheed Martin received an $82 million Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract in December from the U.S. Army for AH-64 Apache helicopter Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) system sustainment. The firm, fixed-price contract is the foundation for a comprehensive sustainment solution that enables M-TADS/PNVS mission readiness, reduces operation and

support costs, and drives reliability and maintainability improvements. This is the third of three one-year options that support the initial $111 million PBL contract awarded in 2012. The total four-year contract value was $375 million. “The partnership between the Army Aviation and Missile Command Logistics Center and Lockheed Martin has built a comprehensive logistics solution that consistently meets or exceeds required aircraft readiness rates,” said Rob Breter, Apache PBL senior program manager at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “During its peak operational tempo of more than 200,000 flying hours, the M-TADS/PNVS PBL program averaged a worldwide supply availability rate of 98 percent, increasing mission readiness for the aircrew.” M-TADS/PNVS provides Apache helicopter pilots long-range, precision engagement and pilotage capabilities for mission success and flight safety day or night, or in adverse weather conditions. Forward-looking infrared sensors provide enhanced image resolution that enables Apache aircrews to prosecute targets and provide situational awareness in support of ground troops outside detection ranges. Lockheed Martin has delivered more than 1,300 M-TADS/PNVS systems to the U.S. Army and international customers. The Apache PBL team was honored with the 2011 and 2013 Secretary of Defense PBL Awards recognizing outstanding achievements in providing soldiers with exceptional operational support. The M-TADS/PNVS program received the subsystem level PBL award, which is one of three presented annually to recognize government/industry teams that have demonstrated outstanding achievements.

GE Successfully Tests World’s First Rotating Ceramic Matrix Composite Material for Next-

Gen Combat Engine

February 10, 2015 CINCINNATI, OH -- GE Aviation successfully tested the world’s first non-static set of light-weight, ceramic matrix composite (CMC) parts by running rotating low-pressure turbine blades in a F414 turbofan demonstrator engine designed to further validate the heat-resistant material for high-stress operation in GE’s next-generation Adaptive Engine Technology Demonstrator (AETD) program currently in development with the United States Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).

The introduction of rotating CMC components into the hottest and hardest-working sections of jet engines represents a significant technology breakthrough for GE and the jet propulsion industry. Prior to the F414 CMC demonstrator, successful CMC applications were limited to static parts, like the high pressure turbine shroud that will be installed on the best-selling LEAP engine, by CFM International, a joint company of GE and Snecma (SAFRAN) of France, in development for the Airbus 320neo, Boeing 737 MAX and the COMAC (CHINA) C919 aircraft. The F414 CMC test – which endured 500 grueling cycles – validated the unprecedented temperature and durability capabilities of turbine blades made from lightweight, heat-resistant CMCs, allowing for expansive deployment of the advanced manufacturing material in GE’s adaptive cycle combat engine and next-gen commercial engines. Because the rotating turbine blades made from CMCs are one-third the weight of conventional nickel alloys used in the high-stress turbine, they allow GE to reduce the size and weight of the metal disks to which the CMCs system is connected. “Going from nickel alloys to rotating ceramics inside the engine is the really big jump. But this is pure mechanics,” said Jonathan Blank, general manager of CMC and advanced polymer matrix composite research at GE Aviation. “The lighter blades generate smaller centrifugal force, which means that you can slim down the disk, bearings and other parts. CMCs allow for a revolutionary change in jet engine design.” GE’s adaptive cycle architecture – the first in which static and rotating CMCs will be deployed -- is revolutionary in its own right. In 2014, GE completed testing the world’s only adaptive three-stream technology demonstrator, called the Adaptive Versatile Engine Technology (ADVENT)

Page 64: Prime - April 2015

engine. The ADVENT engine is the first in aviation history to combine the CMC material technology with an architecture that transitions from a powerful high-pressure, low-bypass ratio fighter jet engine to a fuel-efficient low-pressure, high-bypass ratio commercial engine. The combination of ADVENT’s revolutionary architectural and material innovations resulted in record-breaking temperature and fuel burn achievements. GE’s AETD program will build on these unprecedented propulsion capabilities to deliver a 25% reduction in specific fuel consumption, 30+ % improvement in range and 10% higher maximum thrust compared to today’s most advanced fifth-generation aircraft. “One of the key challenges in transitioning CMC to rotating components from static components is the stress field in which they must live. The progression of F414 CMC testing has provided key learnings in making this transition happen for our adaptive cycle engine,” said Dan McCormick, general manager of GE Aviation’s Advanced Combat Engine program. “The CMC low-pressure turbine blade is about one-third the weight of the metal blade it replaces, and at the second stage, the CMC doesn’t have to be air-cooled. The airfoil can now be more aerodynamically efficient because it does not need all that cooling air pumping through the middle of it.” “More heat means more cooling air, which reduces overall engine performance and efficiency,” Blank said. “By reducing the need for cooling components, our engine becomes aerodynamically more efficient and also more fuel efficient.” GE’s adaptive cycle engine will be much more durable than conventional engines because the CMC’s material temperature capability is hundreds of degrees higher than legacy nickel-based alloys currently in service in both commercial and military engines. Since it began developing the technology in the early 1990s, GE Aviation has invested more than $1 billion in CMCs, which are made of silicon carbide ceramic fibers and ceramic resin, manufactured by GE facilities in Delaware and North Carolina through a highly sophisticated process and further enhanced with proprietary coatings. GE’s small-scale CMC production facility in Newark, Delaware, built the turbine components for the F414 test. GE’s mass production facility in Asheville, North Carolina, will produce static parts for the LEAP engine.

Boeing System Could Bring Precision to Laser Weapons on U.S. Navy Ships

February 17, 2015 ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Boeing has been awarded a $29.5 million contract to design and develop a beam control system that could provide exceptional accuracy for laser weapons on U.S. Navy warships. Boeing will begin to design a prototype High Power Beam Control Subsystem (HP BCSS) that’s compatible with High Energy Lasers (HEL) based on solid-state laser (SSL)

technology. Boeing’s solution will be compatible with systems other companies are designing for the Office of Naval Research’s (ONR) Solid State Laser Technology Maturation (SSL-TM) program. The resulting beam control system will focus and hold a laser on a moving aimpoint long enough to disable the target. Doing that with a ship-based laser is particularly challenging, given the maritime environment and constant movement of an at-sea vessel. “Boeing innovations in beam control and directed energy technologies are keys to understanding laser weapon system configurations that could yield a capability for the Navy in their maritime environment,” said Peggy Morse, vice president, Boeing Directed Energy & Strategic Systems (DESS). The Boeing beam control system capitalizes on the company’s work with the U.S. Army’s High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HEL MD). In demonstrations at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida in 2014, in which Navy program team members participated, HEL MD acquired, tracked and destroyed targets in windy and foggy conditions. Important technical data was collected on energy systems within a maritime environment, which ONR shared with the Army and Boeing. HEL MD has disabled mortars and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) during recent testing.

Exelis Receives $7.6 Million Contract to Provide U.S. Army On-the-Move Connectivity with Low

Profile Satellite Antennas

February 23, 2015 FORT WAYNE, IN -- Raytheon Company and its partner team along with the U.S. Army are testing a new training instrumentation system that helps enable and improve home station training by blending live, virtual and constructive training domains across widely dispersed geographic locations. This new capability, called the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability Instrumentation System (JPMRC – IS), consists of an integrated system of deployable shelters, communications hardware and software that is used to train Army units based on a high fidelity exercise against a thinking opponent. “This new system gives us opportunities to maintain readiness in ways that provide great flexibility while maximizing scarce training resources,” said Bob Williams, Raytheon Global Training Solutions vice president. “We recently completed a rehearsal with the JPMRC-IS involving more than 400 Soldiers across several Hawaiian islands, and it felt and worked exactly like a full rotation at one of our Combat Training Centers.” The JPMRC – IS can be easily transported, is capable of continuous, 24-hour a day operation for weeks at a time, and can extend the training battlespace across physical boundaries by linking units, sites and trainers in real time. The instrumentation system collects and stores specific, scenario-focused information on performance, then aids the exercise controllers in monitoring the exercise, analyzing the performance data, and preparing and presenting detailed performance feedback to the exercise units. The exercise participants obtain direct feedback on how they executed their missions, and lessons learned on how to improve performance. Raytheon will test the JPMRC – IS this month during a multi-unit exercise in Hawaii called Lightning Forge. This Initial Operating Capability event will demonstrate the ability to perform distributed operations as part of a two-battalion exercise on Oahu and the island of Hawaii. Raytheon leads the Warrior Training Alliance (WTA), a team of more than 150 partner companies that provides training support to the U.S. Army around the world on the Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support (FOCUS) contract.

Lockheed Martin Awarded Contracts to Support U.S. Navy Cross Domain Intelligence Sharing

Solution

February 25, 2015 DENVER -- Lockheed Martin will continue to support the Navy system that allows secure sharing of sensitive data between unclassified and classified security domains. The U.S. Navy recently awarded Lockheed Martin two contracts with a total ceiling value of $90 million to support the Radiant Mercury cross domain solution for five years. “Since developing Radiant Mercury in 1992, we’ve ensured it has met the operational needs of customers throughout the world,” said Dr. Rob Smith, vice president of C4ISR for Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions business. “As we deploy the fourth generation of the system, we’ll continue to advance it with the most robust capabilities available.” Today’s military and intelligence operations depend on the timely sharing of critical information. Radiant Mercury helps this by ensuring that data transferring from one network domain to another undergo extremely high levels of scrutiny, protecting against compromises in the integrity of the information. While guarding classified data from unauthorized access, the system simultaneously allows those with the appropriate security classification to retrieve sensitive and critical information. Radiant Mercury supports simultaneous data flows to hundreds of channels, interfaces with most major C4ISR systems, and supports most transport, network and data link protocols. Used by both U.S. and allied partners at more than 400 sites worldwide, Radiant Mercury has streamlined the process of sharing critical operational and intelligence information with coalition forces. Accredited at the highest levels of protection in the United States for secure information sharing, Radiant Mercury is compliant with the Intelligence Community Directive 503 policy, which protects sensitive compartmented information within information systems. It is also approved for both top secret and secret interoperability by the Unified Cross Domain Services Management Office, which lists systems verified to transfer DoD and intelligence community information between multiple security domains with limited risk. Radiant Mercury is available on the U.S. General Services Administration schedule of products and services.

Getting to Atlanta: Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL) is one of the busiest airports in the country, making it easy to find a flight that meets your needs. However, make sure you plan accordingly, allowing yourself enough wiggle room when you fly in and fly out of Hartsfield in case of airport- or weather-related delays. The airport is a mere 10 miles from downtown Atlanta, so you should be able to get to your final destination quickly. Ground Transportation: Taxi cabs charge a standard flat rate of approximately $30 to take passengers from the airport to downtown Atlanta. Standard taxi rates are around $2.50 for the first 1/8 mile and 25 cents for each 1/8-mile thereafter, so your fare can add up fast. Also bear in mind that Atlanta is a large city, so travel and traffic times need to be factored into the final cost.

Getting Around the City: Although the freeways get congested occasionally, driving is the best way to get around Atlanta. The first thing to learn is OTP or ITP. These Atlanta-related slang terms translate to “outside the Perimeter” and “inside the Perimeter.” The Perimeter, also known as Interstate 285, circles the city of Atlanta. Some newcomers have a hard time realizing that if they travel on I-285 they will eventually wind up where they started, and no one wants that to happen. It also helps to

know the phrase “top end,” meaning the section of the Perimeter above I-20, and the phrase “bottom end,” referring to anything below I-20. If you don’t want to drive, Atlanta’s public transportation system is quite easy and is a great alternative. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) is the most popular choice for both bus and train riders. Look for the striped signs in blue, orange, and gold, which are identified as MARTA stations, stops, and vehicles. For those who ride the MARTA bus, the names and route numbers are displayed above the vehicle’s windshield. For train riders, there are signs that direct passengers to the trains and give directions to platforms for boarding. There are also courtesy telephones, MARTA police, and customer service staff that can help you if you need require assistance. You will need to purchase the “Breeze” card for $1 and then load money to the card depending on your final destination.

Weather: Spring in Atlanta is mild, with temperatures ranging from the

mid-70s to the low 80s as it nears summer. Just keep in mind that March is the wettest month, so make sure you pack an umbrella if you’re traveling during that time. While summer temperatures fluctuate

between the low 80s and high 90s, it’s the infamous humidity that really takes some getting used to!

In the fall, the leaves begin to change, making it a picturesque time of year.

Temperatures tend to stay in the 60s and it doesn’t rain very often, so it is very possible to still enjoy outdoor activities. However, winter in Atlanta usually means snow and very cool temperatures. Daytime highs range from the mid-

to upper-50s and nighttime temperatures can drop into the low 30s.

Off the Clock: The Sanctuary: Located in trendy Buckhead, this is the place to go if you love dancing, especially salsa dancing. Fridays are salsa nights, with lessons starting at 9 p.m., so whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced dancer, you’re guaranteed to have a fun time. Drinks aren’t allowed on the dance floor, but there are many lounges where you can take a break and enjoy a cocktail. 3209 Paces Ferry Pl NW, (404) 262-1377.

World of Coca-Cola: Since Atlanta is considered the birthplace of Coke, the World of Coca-Cola is a must-see attraction. During the guided tour, you can enjoy an 8 oz. glass bottle of Coke as you learn about the history of the world's most famous soft drink. You will see more than 1,200 never-before-displayed artifacts ranging from vintage bottles to a 1939 delivery truck from Argentina. There is even a 4-D movie experience, “In Search of the Secret Formula.” In Taste It!, you can sample over 60 different flavors of the classic beverage from around the world and then try to match the original by mixing your own concoction in the Vault of the Secret Formula. At the end, you can have your photo taken with the iconic Coke polar bear just to prove you were here! 121 Baker St NW, (404) 676-5151.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic Site: Encompassing 35 acres, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic Site consists of landmarks as well as modern-day monuments and facilities. This site takes visitors on a journey through the historical struggles of the South, memorializing the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You can visit Dr. King’s original gravesite and current tomb, tour his boyhood home, and see Ebenezer Baptist Church and the historic Fire Station No. 6—one of the South’s first desegregated fire houses. 450 Auburn Ave NE, (404) 331-5190.

Dining in Atlanta: Recommendations for Business Meetings

Glenn’s Kitchen: For American comfort food with a Southern flair, head to Glenn’s Kitchen in downtown Atlanta. The eatery serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual yet sophisticated environment that is perfect for a business meeting. Favorite dishes include the short rib ravioli, shrimp and grits, North Georgia trout, fish tacos, and classic pan-seared Angus burger. Make sure you pair your meal with a glass of wine from the extensive wine list or a signature handcrafted cocktail. 110 Marietta St NW, (404) 469-0700

SkyLounge: It goes without saying that rooftop bars offer terrific scenery, and SkyLounge is no exception, boasting picture-perfect vistas of Atlanta. In fact, SkyLounge is so famous for its expansive views that it was voted one of the top rooftop bars in the world by ABC.com. But beautiful scenery isn’t all this lounge offers. With its elegant furnishings and glamorous bar providing delicious, handcrafted cocktails made by an award-winning mixologist, the SkyLounge is a great place to start or end your evening. 110 Marietta St NW, (404) 521-2250

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q: Once you dine at Fox Bros., it’s easy to see why the eatery has been voted the best BBQ in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. All the meats are cooked low and slow over hickory, resulting in tender and savory baby back ribs, pork, chicken, and brisket. Though this BBQ joint is nothing fancy, it certainly offers mouth-watering grub, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal with other business professionals. 1238 DeKalb Ave NE, (404) 577-4030
