1 Preface

1.1 The PRIMECENTER Rack

Fujitsu Technology Solutions has developed a new PRIMECENTER Rack system to consolidate and extend its existing racks. This new system includes the features and advantages of the previous rack series and offers new, forwarding-looking features and performance characteristics. The extensive experience gained in the installation of 19-inch rack systems from Fujitsu Technology Solutions in office environments and data centers has influenced and been taken into account in the new rack system. The main features include:

● Improved ventilation concept for even higher packing densities,

● Additional vertical slots,

● Further enhanced cabling concept,

● Consistent integration and implementation of new requirements for service friendliness and ease of maintenance.

The proven and well thought-out concept of the previous racks is being continued and enhanced in the new PRIMECENTER Rack system.

The PRIMECENTER Rack Preface

The existing performance characteristics offered include:

● Standard 19-inch technology for Fujitsu Technology Solutions and third-party products

● High standard of security with lockable doors and optional access control

● Forward-looking, reliable cable management

● Extensive rack options such as rack surround cable inlets

● Simple horizontal extensibility

● Additional rack components (console, switch, UPS, ...)

● Ready-to-run or preinstalled delivery

New performance characteristics of the PRIMECENTER Rack system include:

Stack Concept

The PRIMECENTER Rack is available with 12, 24, 38 and 46 height units (HU). The 12, 24 and 38 HU versions are stackable. This means that rack cabinets with up to 50 height units can be created, from the small rack for office environ-ments through to large full size racks for data centers.

This broad configuration offering not only allows users to choose the best rack system to suit their needs, they also have the option of adapting their rack system to match later growth requirements, without needing to invest in unnec-essary rack space from the outset.

In addition, PRIMECENTER Racks can be added on consecutively, even if they are fully assembled. The side panels are retained to ensure uniform ventilation of the rack with internal cabling between the cabinets. Users can themselves decide whether to opt for horizontal or vertical growth in height units as best suits their needs.

High Capacity

The capacity of the height units that can be constructed can be adjusted by stacking and can be extended at any time. In addition, up to 3x 2 HU, mounted vertically, are available for installations of up to 290 mm in depth (240 mm + 50 mm cabling). This means, for example, that horizontal height units do not have to be occupied for hubs, modems or switches.

Preface The PRIMECENTER Rack

Universality

The PRIMECENTER Rack can be configured quickly and consistently using a single software tool with all products from Fujitsu Technology Solutions (PRIMERGY, PRIMEPOWER, BS2000 and all associated peripherals, FibreCAT and storage subsystems). This guarantees that the needs and requirements of users can be implemented as required. Even third-party products can be installed in the PRIMECENTER Rack with their original assembly kits plus adapters from Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

Variable Rack Depth

There are two depth variants of the PRIMECENTER Rack, 940 mm and 1100 mm. It is possible to convert from one to the other depth variant at any time.

Optimized Cabling

As with the previous rack series, the new PRIMECENTER Rack system has integrated a cabling area as well as articulated cable guides, which are not only service friendly but also decisively improve operational reliability and service-ability. Cables are not forced below their minimum bending radius and are laid neatly to avoid confusion. Even in the event of maintenance, faster re-avail-ability of the affected systems is guaranteed because no cables in the cabinet can fall or become twisted.

Ventilation

The air duct runs from front to rear. Because of the high extraction rate and the low air resistance, optimum ventilation is achieved for each height unit. A specially designed front door with a perforation rate of more than 60 percent ensures constant ventilation. The PRIMECENTER Rack is therefore also suitable to meet the future installation needs of servers and storage systems that have a high heat dissipation.

Service-friendliness

The 19-inch devices are mounted on sliding and telescopic rails. The doors can be hinged and unhinged easily by one person. The marking and numbering of the height units simplifies the assembly when installing and adding on compo-nents. Together with the cabling, the anti-tilt plate as well as the stable construction, not only is the availability increased, but maintenance and downtimes are also shorter for conversions and upgrades.

The PRIMECENTER Rack Preface

Standards

Equipped with an earthquake kit, the 38 height unit PRIMECENTER Rack achieved NEBS Level 3 Bellcore GR63 Core, Earthquake Zone 4 and therefore passed the relevant earthquake test.

Each rack can be equipped with an AC main power connection that complies with European and American standards. At least two socket strips and two AC main power connections can be configured for phase redundancy. Because of the high leakage current of a fully configured rack, CEE-compliant plug connectors are used. Connection sets are available for 1-phase and 3-phase power supply as well as a 3-phase rigid connection.

IEC309 plug connectors ensure reliable grounding in the rack. The power supply components are optimized for these applications and the dimensioning ensures reliable and permanent grounding. IEC320 connectors are used within the rack.

Infrastructure

Compliance with standards means that third-party products or products from third-party suppliers, such as electric door locks, smoke and water level sensors as well as power supply components, can likewise be integrated.

Preface The PRIMECENTER Rack

Patented Device Cabinet

This PRIMECENTER Rack is a patented device cabinet (patent specification: DE 199 62 659 C 2).

The invention deals primarily with a server cabinet. Because the mounting area with the devices and servers contained within is arranged asymmetrically, space is available left at the side for cable routing and for horizontal cable supports. Additional devices, particularly vertically aligned 19-inch modules can be arranged toward the front of this free side space.

2 Important NotesThis chapter provides you with important information on setting up and operating the PRIMECENTER Rack system.

2.1 Rack Philosophy

The PRIMECENTER Rack combines features in such a way as to make it unique in the world of 19-inch rack technology. The PRIMECENTER Rack is designed without compromise to provide the user with the highest possible level of service, offering unparalleled flexibility at an acceptable price. The well-balanced concept is reflected in the following points among others:

Transport Concepts

The height of the 38 HU PRIMECENTER Rack allows it to fit through a normal, 2-meter high door without having to be tipped, even if it is still on the delivery palette. This not only makes the rack easier to transport but also allows it to be delivered with components such as server or storage expansion units already installed and configured as specified by the customer. It also makes it easy to move the PRIMECENTER Rack to a new location on its rollers. The internal cabling is complete.

The same specifications apply to both the 24 HU PRIMECENTER Rack and the 12 HU PRIMECENTER Rack.

The 46 HU PRIMECENTER Rack is delivered without the rack components pre-installed. The components are mounted in the rack after it has reached its location. This rack can also be easily moved to a new location on its rollers. The transport concept for the 46 HU PRIMECENTER Rack assumes that the customer does not know about individual local conditions like the height of the door frame or the existence of elevators etc. Therefore, the "empty" rack can also be transported in a "tipped" position.

Rack Philosophy Important Notes

Installation Concept

The PRIMECENTER Rack is based on internationally standardized 19-inch rack technology and makes optimum use of the space provided. In addition to mounting rack components horizontally at the front and rear, an optional expansion area is also available. Up to 3x 2 HU, mounted vertically, are available for installations of up to 290 mm in depth, (240 mm + 50 mm cabling). This means, for example, that horizontal height units do not have to be occupied for hubs, modems or switches.

If cable management is not used, the full depth of this mounting location can be used.

Rack components can be mounted horizontally using sliding rails or telescopic rails. Mounting components using telescopic rails and the corresponding cable management system allows maintenance and repair work to be carried out easily and cost-effectively and supports hot-plug solutions.

Cable Management

The PRIMECENTER Rack provides an efficient cable management system. Because the cables are routed along the side of the rack components using articulated cable guides or cable guides with cable clips, the connection side of the rack components remains tidy, making it is easy to see where each cable leads. A distinction is made between two types of connection:

– A connection via an articulated cable guide

– A direct connection

An articulated cable guide is used together with rack components that are mounted in the PRIMECENTER Rack using telescopic rails or sliding rails. This combination allows rack components to be pulled from the rack without having to disconnect the cables first and therefore allows device components to be replaced during operation in hot-plug solutions.

With other rack components, cables are connected directly. This means that the cables can be shorter but hot-plug solutions are not or only partially supported.

Excess lengths of cable can be fastened at certain locations within the PRIMECENTER Rack using one or more cable guides with cable clips.

Important Notes Notes on Safety

Ventilation Concept

If the PRIMECENTER Rack is to function reliably, adequate ventilation of all the rack components must be ensured. To guarantee that this is always the case, the ventilation concept applied to all rack components has been coordinated with the PRIMECENTER Rack to provide a uniform overall solution. The basic ventilation concept is designed so that fresh air is drawn in through the front and warm air is expelled from the rear.

Because of the high extraction rate - the perforation rate in the doors is more than 60 percent causing lower air resistance - optimum ventilation is achieved for each height unit. The PRIMECENTER Rack is therefore already aligned to meet the future installation needs of servers and storage systems that have a high heat dissipation.

2.2 Notes on Safety

V CAUTION!

Observe the safety instructions in the documentation for the individual components mounted in the rack and the following notes on safety.

● The activities described in this manual may only be performed by technicians, service personnel or technical specialists. Ignoring the instructions in this manual can result in personal injury or damage to equipment (risk of tipping over, etc.).

● When the unit is transported, it is only allowed to have a lean angle of max. 30°.

● The unit must remain in the original package till its installation location.

● Make sure the floor at the final place of installation has sufficient load-bearing capacity.

● Always ensure that the anti-tilt plate is mounted when you set up the PRIMECENTER Rack (risk of tipping over).

● When connecting or disconnecting cables, refer to the relevant notes in the section “Connecting and Disconnecting Cables” on page 78.

● Route the cables in such a way that they do not form a potential hazard (make sure no one can trip over them) and that they cannot be damaged.

Page 20: PRIMECENTER Rack System for PRIMERGY, PRIMEPOWER, BS2000 ...manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/3574/rack-primecenter-en.pdf · PRIMECENTER Rack System for PRIMERGY, PRIMEPOWER, BS2000, STORAGE

Notes on Safety Important Notes

V CAUTION!

● When mounting a server, pull the telescopic rails out all the way until they click into position.

● For safety reasons, no more than one unit must be pulled out of the rack at a time, otherwise the rack may tip over.

This is illustrated by the following pictogram:

● Before you mount a server in the PRIMECENTER Rack, remove all heavy and easily removed server components such as hot-plug disks and power supply modules for redundant power supplies since this makes the server lighter and easier to mount.

● Before pushing extended telescopic rails back into the rack, pull the ball cage of the telescopic rail forward as far as it will go.

● For safety reasons, no more than one unit may be withdrawn from the rack at any one time during installation and maintenance work. If more than one unit is withdrawn from the rack at any one time, there is a danger that the rack will tilt forward.

● If necessary, have other people help you mount the individual compo-nents in the rack because of the weight involved.

● Install only system expansions that satisfy the requirements and rules governing safety. If you install other expansions, you may damage the system or violate these safety regulations. Information can be obtained from customer service or your local sales office.

● If you cause a defect on the device by installing or exchanging system expansions, the warranty is invalidated.

● The configurations available in the PRIMECENTER Rack can carry a leakage current >3.5 mA. Therefore, a ground connection must be established before connecting to the mains (see chapter “Power Supply” on page 87).

Important Notes Notes on Mounting the Rack Components

V CAUTION!

● The AC main power connection for the PRIMECENTER Rack must be installed by an authorized electrician approved by the local utility company.

2.3 Notes on Mounting the Rack Components

Before you start mounting components in the rack, you should identify the positions of the individual components in the PRIMECENTER Rack according to the configuration generated using the System Architect (see section “The System Architect” on page 52). You should then mark the positions using the relevant assembly aid, if one was supplied with the rack component.

Marking and numbering the height units simplifies the assembly when installing and adding on components.

The maximum mounting height for the PRIMECENTER Rack is 12/24/38/46 height units (HU). One height unit corresponds to 44.45 mm (see section “The Height Unit (HU)” on page 53).

A lift truck is available from Fujitsu Technology Solutions to ensure that heavy components can be fitted precisely into the rack. The address for ordering the lift truck is available from FSC Service.

Observe the following rules when mounting the components:

● Mount the components in the rack from bottom to top.

● Mount heavy parts at the bottom, e.g. the uninterruptible power supply.

● Mount the keyboard or rack console at a height that makes it easy to operate (HU 17 - 21).

● Position the dummy covers so that later planned extensions can be installed without having to rearrange components.

● To accommodate the ventilation concept and ensure proper ventilation of all the components in the rack, any unused areas must be closed using dummy covers.

● Mount the unit in accordance with the technical manual and assembly aid supplied.

Environmental Protection Important Notes

2.4 Environmental Protection

Environmentally Friendly Product Design and Development

This product has been designed in accordance with the Fujitsu Technology Solutions standard “Environmentally Friendly Product Design and Devel-opment”. This means that the designers have taken into account crucial criteria such as durability, selection and labeling of materials, emissions, packaging, the ease with which the product can be dismantled and the extent to which it can be recycled. This saves resources and thus reduces the harm done to the environment.

Notes on Saving Energy

Devices that do not have to be on permanently should not be switched on until they are needed and should be switched off during long breaks and when work is finished.

Notes on Packaging

We recommend that you do not throw away the original packaging in case you need it later for transportation. If possible, devices should be transported in their original packaging.

Notes on Dealing with Consumables

Please dispose of printer consumables and batteries in accordance with local regulations.

Notes on Labeling Plastic Housing Parts

Please avoid attaching your own labels to plastic housing parts wherever possible, since this makes it difficult to recycle them.

4 Mounting Rack ComponentsThis chapter describes how to prepare the PRIMECENTER Rack for the instal-lation of rack components. Refer to the appropriate operating manuals for infor-mation on how to mount the components themselves.

The rack has three areas in which components can be mounted:

– the 19-inch area with 12/24/38/46 HU, which is accessible from the front and is used for mounting the rack components horizontally.

– the optional expansion area with 1 x 2 HU, 2 x 2 HU and 3 x 2 HU, which is accessible from the front and is used for mounting the rack components vertically.

– the 19-inch area, which is accessible from the rear and is used for mounting the rack components horizontally if not already occupied by other compo-nents.

Before you prepare the PRIMECENTER Rack and start mounting components, you should use the System Architect to help you determine the mounting position and the mounting height of the relevant components. Also observe the information in the section “Notes on Mounting the Rack Components” on page 21.

V CAUTION!

Make sure the floor at the final place of installation has sufficient load-bearing capacity!

Mounting Rack Components The Height Unit (HU)

4.2 The Height Unit (HU)

The unit of measurement used in the PRIMECENTER Rack is the height unit (HU). One height unit comprises a 3-hole section in the front area and mounting area (starts and ends with a narrow metal bar) and corresponds to 44.45 mm or 1 ¾ inches.

The height units are numbered consecutively in ascending order from 1 upwards, above and below the center of the vertical support uprights.

A PRIMECENTER Rack with 38 height units therefore has 19 height units above and 19 height units below the center of the support uprights.

Mounting Rack Components Mounting in the front 19-inch area

4.5 Mounting in the Front 19-inch Area

Components are mounted in the front 19-inch area of the PRIMECENTER Rack using either telescopic or sliding rails. Light components can also be mounted via the front panel.

If components are mounted using telescopic rails, all the cables leading to the components are routed via an articulated cable guide. If service work needs to be performed, the cables can remain connected when the components are removed from the PRIMECENTER Rack. This makes servicing much easier and also allows device components in hot-plug slots to be replaced during operation.

If components are mounted using sliding rails, all the cables are routed directly to the components and are connected without any special aids, i.e. without using an articulated cable guide. If service work needs to be performed, all connected cables must be disconnected before the components can be removed from the PRIMECENTER Rack.

A support bracket is required for mounting components regardless of whether telescopic rails or sliding rails are used.

Figure 43: Support brackets with a load capacity of 150 kg and 50 kg respectively

Support brackets with a load capacity of 50 kg (1 HU) and for support systems with a load capacity of 150 kg (2 HU) are available. A cable clip can be mounted on each support bracket for vertical cabling.

4.7 Mounting in the Rear 19-inch Area

You can mount additional rack components in the rear 19-inch area if:

– the front area is not occupied with rack components

– the rack components mounted in the front area leave enough space for additional components to be mounted at the rear (in the rear area)

An appropriate support bracket is again required for mounting rack components on the lefthand side. If you cannot use an existing bracket, you will have to mount a new support bracket at the appropriate position.

Figure 47: Example of how to mount a rack component in the 19-inch area at the back

Ê If there is no support bracket at the appropriate position on the left rear support upright, mount a support bracket with the appropriate load capacity (1) (see section “Mounting the Support Bracket” on page 64).

Converting the Rack Mounting Rack Components

4.8 Converting the Rack from a Depth of 940 mm to 1000 mm

The PRIMECENTER Racks are shipped in two depths (940 mm and 1000 mm). The basic frame is the same for all PRIMECENTER Racks.

If the depth of the rack is to be upgraded in the field from 940 mm to 1000 mm, this can be done using a rebuild set. This rebuild set includes adapter pieces for mounting hinges and door stops as well as a rack surround set of panels, comprising top, right and left panel.

Proceed as follows to convert the rack:

Ê First remove the door at the back of the rack.

Figure 48: Installing the adapter pieces for mounting hinges and door stops

Ê Insert the relevant number of cage nuts into the uprights to secure the adapter pieces for mounting the hinges and the door stops.

Ê Tightly fasten the fastening screws for the hinges and the door stops.

Cable Inlets and Outlets Mounting Rack Components

4.9 Rack Surround Cable Inlets and Outlets with External Cabling

A surrounding slit forms between the basic frame and the rear door as a result of inserting the adapter pieces for the hinge mounts and the door stops. This slit is used for feeding in and out cables.

The width of the slit depends on the depth of the rack. If the rack has a depth of 940 mm, the slit is 50 mm wide and if the rack has a depth of 1000 mm, the slit is 110 mm wide.

This surrounding slit is covered by a set of panels (1 x above und 2 x at the sides). In the case of external cabling or add-on racks, the panels can be removed to feed in and out the cables (figure 52 on page 73).

5.1.1 Articulated Cable Guides

Articulated cable guides are used for rack components that are mounted in the rack using telescopic rails.

The mounting height of the articulated cable guide depends on the rack component to be installed and must not interfere with the telescopic rails.

Figure 53: Mounting an articulated cable guide

Ê Insert the articulated cable guide into the rear support upright for the cable guide at the appropriate height as shown.

Ê Fasten the articulated cable guide to the rear support upright using two plugwashers and two screws.

Connecting and Disconnecting Cables Cable Management

5.2 Connecting and Disconnecting Cables

V CAUTION!

● The power plug must be pulled out!

● Read the documentation for the device before you connect it.

● Make sure that all signal cables are free of electrostatic charge before they are plugged.

● Never connect or disconnect cables during thunderstorms.

● When disconnecting a cable, always grasp the plug. Never pull on the cable.

● Connect or disconnect cables in the sequence shown below.

5.2.1 Connecting Cables

Ê Switch off all affected devices.

Ê The power plug of all affected devices must be pulled out of the sockets on the socket strip in the PRIMECENTER Rack.

Ê Attach all cables to the devices. Mark the cables and note what function each cable serves.

I Above all, observe the safety notes in the chapter “Important Notes” on page 17.

Ê Plug all data transmission cables into the sockets provided for the data transmission or telephone networks.

Ê Plug the mains power plugs of all devices into the sockets on the socket strip(s) in the rack.

I Make sure that the power cables of the devices are plugged in so that there is an even distribution of power to the three phases (L1, L2, L3) (see chapter “Power Supply” on page 87).

Make sure that the cabling of devices with a "dual power feed" fulfils the of the high availability requirements of the system.

Ê Pull the power plugs of all affected devices out of the sockets on the socket strip in the PRIMECENTER Rack.

Ê Pull all data transmission cables out of the sockets provided for the data transmission or telephone networks.

Ê Disconnect all cables on the devices.

5.3 Routing Cables

Only internal cables are routed at the factory. All other cables must be routed during rack installation.

If one or more articulated cable guides are mounted with an installed device, all external cables must be routed in these guides.

If the installed articulated cable guides are not sufficient for the number of cables, you must install additional ones.

The articulated cable guides must be installed 1 HU apart. If this is not possible, the cables must be routed in the rack before installing the device.

For easier access to the articulated cable guides you can pull out the systems above and below the guides toward the front.

This section contains several examples of how to route cables in the PRIMECENTER Rack.

6 Power SupplyThe PRIMECENTER Rack offers various possibilities for supplying power to the integrated rack components. The connection conditions described in the relevant manuals for the integrated rack components should be complied with in all cases.

The power supply to the PRIMECENTER Rack can be included optionally as part of a redundancy concept. In the simplest scenario, redundancy is achieved with the 3-phase mains connection by distributing redundant power supplies to the phases. Ever higher redundancy is achieved by duplicating the current distribution components so that the PRIMECENTER Rack can be connected to two independent inhouse power distribution networks via a dual power feed. This option is offered both in 1-phase and 3-phase socket strips.

V CAUTION!

Remember in configurations with several mains supply cables that all cables must be disconnected so that there is no current flowing to the rack!

The power supply complies with the requirements of the EN60950 regulations. This allows a PRIMECENTER Rack to be connected with a flexible 3 or 5-wire cable to a rated current of up to 16 A per phase. The respective line cross-sections should be noted.

Because of the high number of current distribution components within the PRIMECENTER Rack, the configuration can carry leakage currents > 3.5 mA. For this reason, the PRIMECENTER Rack may generally only be connected to internal power distribution networks via rigid connections or via industrial connections in accordance with IEC309.

Note the requirements outlined in the data sheets when installing the power distributor.

Connecting to the Mains Power Supply

6.1 Connecting to the Mains Using a 1-phase Socket Strip

A socket strip with ten insulated sockets and a connection cable is available for a 1-phase AC mains power connection. The cable should not be routed over sharp edges or pinched.

Power is supplied to the individual rack components via the socket strip. The load should be distributed equally to the two 5-pin elements of the 10-way socket strip.

In the case of a dual power feed to the PRIMECENTER Rack, ensure that redundant power supplies are distributed to socket strips that are disconnected from the mains.

The following socket strips are available:

● With 16 A IEC309-compliant connector

● With 32 A IEC309-compliant connector

● With 30 A Twist Lock connector, NEMA L6-30P

● With 16 A IEC320-compliant connector

● With 10 A IEC320-compliant connector

● Socket strip with three 10 A power outlets and 1.5 m connection cable and right-angle insulated plug (max. 10 A)

Connecting to the Mains Power Supply

6.2 Connecting to the Mains Using a 3-phase Socket Strip

The PRIMECENTER Rack provides a 3-phase AC mains power connection and thus offers a uniform power distribution to the power distribution network.

A socket strip with 3 socket blocks (one block per phase, each with one protective contact socket and four insulated sockets ) is available (figure 62).

V CAUTION!

Make sure that the current load of the individual insulated socket blocks do not exceed 10 A.

Servers with redundant power supply units can then be connected to different phases and are thus given additional phase redundancy for high availability configurations. If only one phase fails, the systems that are connected to another phase remain operational.

6.2.2 3-phase Power Distribution

Power is supplied to the individual rack components within the PRIMECENTER Rack via the socket strip. If the number of sockets available on the socket strip is not enough, you can use a supplementary socket strip as an extension. (see figure 62 on page 90).

The following supplementary socket strips are available:

● Socket strip with 5 sockets (one 16 A protective contact socket and four 10 A insulated sockets) and 3 m connection cable with protective contact utility connector.

● Socket strip with 3 sockets (three 10 A protective contact sockets) and 1.5 m connection cable with insulated connector (max. 10 A).

Power Supply Power Supply via UPS

6.3 Power Supply via UPS

If uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units are involved in supplying energy to the rack and its components, the connection conditions described in the relevant manuals for the integrated rack components should be complied with in all cases. There are many possible combinations:

● The rack is supplied completely via the UPS:

In this case the UPS should be connected directly to the mains. In the rack the rack components are connected directly or optionally via a socket strip to the UPS.

● The rack is partly supplied via a UPS:

This gives a choice of connecting the UPS via the socket strip in the rack or directly to the power supply network. This process also applies if a number of UPSs are used in the rack.

● High-power UPSs above 3000 VA:

UPSs above 3000 VA need their own mains connection because of the large amount of current that they draw. Both fixed connections and connections using IEC 309-complaint connectors can be used here. The technical requirements can be taken from EN60950 and from the specifications of the local utility company.

Online UPSs and line-interactive UPSs are available in different performance classes. Different UPS types are used preferentially by the various server lines for the PRIMECENTER Rack. Please refer here to the configuration information for the individual severs.

The power supply can be configured freely depending on the UPSs used. The input power connector of the respective UPS can be connected either directly to the mains or to the protective contact socket of the main socket strip in the rack by using the connection cable supplied with the respective UPS. The rack components or additional socket strips should be connected to the power outlets of the respective UPS.

Note that the increased leakage currents >3.5mA can also flow over UPS connection cables. The connection cables therefore have to be assigned uniquely to the device and the strain on the UPS relieved, either using appro-priate strain relief facilities or by routing with suitable cabling, which requires the assistance of tools to change the cabling.

Potential Compensating System Power Supply

6.4 Connecting to the Potential Compensating System

If required by local regulations, the PRIMECENTER Rack can be connected to the indoor potential-compensating system via the grounding screw located at the rear of the rack chassis. This grounding only protects from external parasitic voltages and does not replace the protective conductor in the mains feeders.

7 Appendix A: StackabilityThe new PRIMECENTER Racks are available with 12, 24, 38 or 46 height units. The 12, 24 and 38 height unit versions are stackable and allow a vertical rack growth of up to 50 height units.

To mount two racks vertically, proceed as follows:

Figure 66: Removing the top cover

Ê Remove the top cover of the bottom rack by unscrewing the screws on the left and the right of the cover from inside the rack, and take the cover off.

Ê Remove the leveling feet from the rack to be stacked (the rack that is mounted on top). The rollers may remain on the rack.
