4 PRIMERA FEBRUARY 2015
In line with the National Arts Month, Primera’s first issue this 2015 features creative skill in digital arts. Also, this issue is featuring a model who looks real and digital, literally and figuratively, and is also into creative digital arts – Patrice Co.
As inspired by Pharrell Williams’ It Girl Music Video, kids from the 90’s will surely have a throwback moment when they see the 16-bit game-inspired video. It is very catchy to see an animated Pharrell dancing with the animated graphics and thought of trying it out but using a real model.
After searching for a perfect model, this girl in Facebook with a vivid teal hair and a Korean cosplay face and
happens to make vector portraits, came about and just made us say, this is our “It Girl”.
Communication started last September 2014 and unfortunately she was out of the country then and we just needed to wait until she’s finally back and arranged schedules for the shoot. The background of the video was also made by her and it is just fitting for the theme of the issue.
Also, we invited more artists to add up to this colorfully vibrant issue which will feature more of the digital, artistic talents in this new age.
Have fun and be inspired with Primera’s February issue!

THE 10 FEATURED DIGITAL ARTIST
Various artists from different walks of life but shares the same passion for digital art has been invited to contribute for this month’s issue. We chose 10 of the best artworks and each has
shared the story behind their masterpieces. This has become an avenue to continue exploring the world of art and for others to be
inspired to make one and continually improve on their skills.
Just like what our featured model say, “Digital art is an art na ine-embrace ang technology na meron tayo ngayon. Isang way ito na maipakita ang talent ng bawat isa at para maipakita ng mga artist ang galing nila, hindi lang sa traditional na paraan. It also attracts
people to be interested in arts.”
So, we would like to thank everyone who submitted their piece, even though we are not able to showcase everyone, we continue to hope that they will never cease mixing colors to add vibrant
art in this naturally artistic world.

“It explains my art style and how it came to be. I started with doodles – doodling on my books and notebooks when I was a kid. Doodling was my usual past time when I’m bored in class. It is colorful because that is how I see art—colorful, full of life and pleasing to the eyes. It showcases freedom of expression.”

46 PRIMERA FEBRUARY 2015
Patrice is like a human canvass herself; and just like any art, she loves to explore and experiment on new and unique things to herself.
“The unique stuff that I do is usually change my hairstyle or hair color. ‘Yun talaga ang nahiligan ko. Sa pagtanda, syempre nandun na rin yung pag-change ng style sa sarili: boyish, pagirl, o minsan mala-rakista. I do nail arts din. Customized din ‘yung iba kong mga damit, ginugupit ko at tinatahi. I even design my shoes and gitara ko para maiba.”
48 PRIMERA FEBRUARY 2015
It’s Patrice’s first time to do a studio photoshoot. as for the experience, here’s what she has to say:
“Same siya ng experience (with out-door shoot), masaya but less hassle since you can change outfits right away! The HMUa is also a great help, ‘di mahirap maging maganda sa cam. Why did I try studio shoot? Ako kasi ‘yung taong gusto lahat masubukan lalo na kung hilig ko. Explore lang and try lang nang try!”
50 PRIMERA FEBRUARY 2015
“My ideas come from different things I see everywhere, parang bigla na lang may
magpa-pop na idea on how I can use it para maging art. ‘Pag walang ideas, kailangan lang
talaga ng mga inspirations to get an idea, I search on the internet ng mga kakaibang
creative stuff, works ng different artists, doodle, art works, vectors, etc.
