MASS Intentions for the Week
We encourage you to call with the names of family members who are ill and you wish to have remembered in prayer. They will be mentioned in the Petitions in the Sunday Liturgy for one week and then published in the weekly bulletin. In order to respect everyone’s privacy, these names must be given by a family member. Continuing prayer for our loved ones is very important for all involved. Therefore, we ask that you call the parish office and update us on your family member, so that we may maintain a current and meaningful list.

TEEN MASS NEXT WEEKEND!
Teen Mass will be celebrated next Sunday, June 16th at 5:00pm.
All teens are invited to stay after Mass for food, fun & fellowship.
“He who gives to the poor suffers no want…” (Proverbs 28:27)
Our food drive to benefit our Sharing Parish Food Pantry, Most Blessed Trinity in Waukegan, continues next weekend, June 15-16. Most needed food items include: Peanut butter & jelly (small jars), Ramen soup, oatmeal packets, small individual cereal boxes, canned tuna/chicken, sugar (small boxes) and cooking oil (any kind—small bottles). Below are non-food items that are especially needed by food pantry clients and that do not often get donated. Any help supplying these would be greatly appreciated! Toilet paper, tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo, laundry or dishwashing detergents, soap, diapers & vitamins.
NOTE: small to medium sized bottles of detergents or individually wrapped packages of soap, etc. are the best as they can be distributed to multiple families. Interested in helping? Sorting food, checking expiration dates, boxing up food or delivering the final boxes to Most Blessed Trinity, contact Elizabeth Pitel at [email protected] for more information. Thank you for showing your love by sharing a meal or your time!
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The June Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting is scheduled for:
Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00pm
If you already know how to knit and/or crochet or would like to learn how, we would love to have you join us for knitting/crocheting, wonderful conversation and friendship. We also work on making mats for the homeless from plastic shopping bags. If you know of anyone who could benefit from a prayer shawl, please contact Deacon Jim at the parish office or Jean Coon at 847-341-9334.
Our prayers and sympathy to the families of
Richard Klemp (cousin of Sharon Lange),
Marcella Sweet (cousin of Bill Burns),
Jo Pemberton,
and the recently departed.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.

Dare to do as much as you can, giving him due praise.
(St. Thomas Aquinas)
Each year, on Corpus Christi Sunday, we give Our Lord due praise for his victory over death and the gift of himself to us in the Eucharist. One way we express this is through the celebratory walking of the faithful with the God in whom we believe, taking him beyond the precincts of the church and inviting him to take possession of the world in which we live.
This year, Corpus Christi Sunday (also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ), will be celebrated on June 23, and Prince of Peace Parish will again be having a Corpus Christi procession to emphasize the importance of this Solemnity.
The procession will begin inside the church immediately following the 11:30 a.m. Mass and will then proceed to the parish grounds. In the course of the procession there will be four stations (representing the four corners of the earth) where the priest and the people will stop for the proclamation of the Holy Gospel, a prayer and a blessing with the intention of putting the whole world under the protection of the Eucharistic Lord.
We invite all parishioners and their families and friends to participate with us in this special event.

ELECTRONIC GIVING FORM
Our Electronic Giving program assures a continuation of your support even when you are not here. We encourage all of our parishioners to seriously consider utilizing this program. Most of us find that we attend Mass at parishes other than Prince of Peace during the year, related to vacations, family events, etc. We have received positive comments from parishioners who already utilize this program such as, “this makes it so much easier” and “I have peace of mind knowing that when I am out of town my obligations have been met.”
Direct debits can be processed either weekly or monthly dependent on your preference. Weekly debits are processed every Monday, and monthly debits are processed the first Monday of each month. Credit cards can be processed either on the 5th or 20th of the month. If you require a different schedule please call Barb Ruhl, in the parish office.
I (we) hereby authorize Prince of Peace Church, to initiate debits to my (our) account as indicated below. I (we) authorize the financial institution below, to credit the amount of such entries to my (our) account. This authority is to remain in full force and effect until I (we) revoke the agreement. Any revocation is effective only after Prince of Peace Church has received notification from me (us) to terminate this agreement in such time and manner as to afford a reasonable opportunity to act upon the notice.

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (John 14:26)
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us. The relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there is no absolute truth. Pray to the Holy Spirit to transform our lives and to guide our thoughts, words and actions.

Going On Vacation This Summer?
Remember, church expenses continue during the summer. Your monthly envelope packet contains a pre-addressed envelope. This envelope is included as a convenience for those who either prefer to mail their weekly church stewardship to the office or find it necessary when they are unable to attend Mass. The church also offers an electronic giving option for your convenience. A form can be found on
opposite page or on our parish website. Visit www.masstimes.org before or while traveling to find a church to attend while out of town.
The Elijah Cup
This month the Bobko family has volunteered to take home the Elijah Cup and to pray each day as a family for
vocations. The Elijah Cup is a unique way to bring prayer and vocations into one’s home, and offers people a
chance to come together as a family in order to pray together for the future of our Church. Anyone interested in
being a part of this devotion should talk to Fr. Gerald or sign up for a month in the parish office. Any couple,
individual, or family may participate. We just ask that you pray each day the prayer provided for vocations. You
must attend the designated Mass in order to receive the chalice on your given month.
Middle School Mission 2019 (Summer Retreat)
This summer, July 15-19, there will be 5-day mission retreat for youth entering grades 6, 7 & 8 in the fall. The retreat will last from 8:00am to 4:30pm each day, and the cost is $50 per person, which includes lunch and a free day activity on Friday. Monday through Thursday will consist of morning Mass, service projects in the community, and retreat time. Friday will start with Mass and the remainder of the day will be a fun activity to conclude the retreat week. Signup forms are available in the parish office or on our website at https://www.princeofpeacelv.org/summer-camp-mission-trips.

Please inform the parish office of any additions to your family, changes in member status or address changes. All Catholic adults, 18 years old and no longer in school, who live within the parish area should register in their own name. Active and supporting membership includes offering one’s time, talent and treasure to assist in promoting the Gospel and the mission of Prince of Peace Parish. Please help us maintain our parish records by registering or
advising us of changes as soon as possible. Welcome to Prince of Peace! We are glad you are here!
Prince of Peace staff and the Communications Ministry frequently videotape or photograph participants enjoying programs, Masses and other events at our facility. These photographs are taken for use in parish publications, flyers, our website, brochures and future materials. All photos and videos taken on Prince of Peace property are for parish use and become the sole property of the parish. If you or a member of your family does not wish to be photographed, please contact the parish office.
PPC Liaisons to each of our parish
commissions are listed on the previous page.
