END OF TERM
Term 1 concludes at the end of the school day on Friday 7th April. I would like to wish all students, parents and staff a safe and relaxing vacation period. Staff commence work on Monday 24th April, which will be a School Development Day. Children do not attend school on this day. Tuesday 25th April is ANZAC Day, a Public Holiday—the school will be closed on this day. School re-opens for children on Wednesday 26th April.
ANZAC Service
The school’s ANZAC service will be held on Friday 7th April (last day of Term 1). The service will commence at 9.30am and will be held on the oval, facing the flagpole (weather permitting). All children from Year 1-6 will be attending the service (including all children in Room 1). Kindergarten and Pre Primary children will not be attending the service, however parents/caregivers who intend attending the service may collect their child from class and supervise them during the service. There will be an opportunity for children to lay flowers during the course of the assembly, and children are permitted to bring these to school on the day. Parents/caregivers and extended family members are warmly invited to attend this assembly.
All gates will be left open until 10.30am.

Yr 6 Camp Mornington
What an amazing camp it was! There was plenty of laughter, tears, screaming, vomiting, yelling, snoring and a
whole range of other emotions on offer. This was all just from the teachers too.
Year 6 camp for students and some staff is always about the fear of the unknown. The uncertainty of what awaits
can be very overwhelming and challenging.
Potential issues like completing all camp activities, sleeping arrangements, camp food, showering, toileting, being
with their friends or for some just being away from their parents for the first time, brings to the surface plenty
of anxiety.
However the purpose of camp is for students to deal with and overcome these very anxieties by really challenging
their own abilities and self-imposed limitations. To make them realise with a good dose of effort, positive
attitude and perseverance, there are no boundaries on what you can achieve.
Camp is also a great forum for students to put their best foot forward, show their leadership skills, which they
all have and appreciate the power or importance of effective teamwork, just like in a classroom.
For teachers, camp is a fantastic opportunity to get to know all of the students, both in and outside of our own
classes. Developing these connections and relationships is crucial to a successful and enjoyable school year.
It also provides students with one crucial realisation; their teachers are in fact human. We too experience all of
the emotions they do and that even though we are adults, we all have our strengths and weaknesses to improve
upon or overcome. Hopefully they also realise we all have a good sense of humour and enjoy a bit of fun.
For all students to truly get the most out of their camp experience, it is crucial they now apply all that they have
learned and gained back into the classroom for the remainder of this year. They have all shown just how capable,
determined and mature they can be, so as teachers, we are eager to see this translate into their schoolwork.
All students are to be congratulated for their fantastic behaviour and mature approach towards their camp. I can
say without any hesitation, it was one the most rewarding camps I have been involved in and I know my colleagues
also feel the same way.
Finally, no camp is possible without the time and effort of all the teachers and staff involved. So to my
colleagues, Miss Slater, Miss Szetelnicka, Mrs Woodhouse, Mrs McKain and Mr Snelling, a massive thank you for
your commitment and dedication towards all of the students.
