October 2015 By now you have received the most important word about how this school year has begun – the informal reports given to you by your son or daughter. The staff hopes those reports are posive. We hope you feel that the school year has begun well for your child. We are pleased to have you as partners in this educaonal year. As the year progresses, and as you become either more informed or more puzzled, we encourage you to call the school and talk to those who might be of help. We are glad to have you with us this year and we want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child excel. With your help and cooperaon, this should be an excellent school year! With the first month almost behind us, our goal connues to be student-focused. Each me my administrave dues take me “where the acon is” I am impressed with the energy teachers expend to involve students in learning acvies that sup- port their being successful. The creave use of technology, as well as more inno- vave teaching strategies, makes learning a lot more engaging than it was when we were teenagers! Typically, this excitement of a new school year wears thin and roune sets in. As the days grow shorter, it is just a bit more difficult for students to face “another school day…another test…another project”. These are mes when we adults need to “be there” with a word of support or a pat on the back. We experienced suc- cess and failure – and we know how important it is to keep an eye on our goals. Let’s remind students of the need to take it “one day at a me” so that they can move forward. October 2015

By now you have received the most important word about how this school year

has begun – the informal reports given to you by your son or daughter. The staff

hopes those reports are positive. We hope you feel that the school year has begun

well for your child. We are pleased to have you as partners in this educational

year. As the year progresses, and as you become either more informed or more

puzzled, we encourage you to call the school and talk to those who might be of

help. We are glad to have you with us this year and we want to assure you that we

will do our best to help your child excel. With your help and cooperation, this

should be an excellent school year!

With the first month almost behind us, our goal continues to be student-focused.

Each time my administrative duties take me “where the action is” I am impressed

with the energy teachers expend to involve students in learning activities that sup-

port their being successful. The creative use of technology, as well as more inno-

vative teaching strategies, makes learning a lot more engaging than it was when

we were teenagers!

Typically, this excitement of a new school year wears thin and routine sets in. As

the days grow shorter, it is just a bit more difficult for students to face “another

school day…another test…another project”. These are times when we adults need

to “be there” with a word of support or a pat on the back. We experienced suc-

cess and failure – and we know how important it is to keep an eye on our goals.

Let’s remind students of the need to take it “one day at a time” so that they can

move forward.

Three Oaks Senior High School is proud to present their 30th annual Christmas craft

fair. Over the past three decades this event has grown to become the Islands largest

authentic holiday craft fair with well over 100 vendors from P.E.I., New Brunswick

and Nova Scotia. This year, the craft fair will be held over two days only: Saturday,

November 7 from 9:00am to 8:00pm; and Sunday, November 8 from 10:00am to

5:00pm. Admission is only $3. A canteen service and a free babysitting service will be

available both days. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards a wide variety of

student organizations within our school including student council activities, athletics,

band program, etc..

School in the future. We are

now in the process of devel-

oping a School Improvement

sion making and to keep us

school community. Our

three goals in the plan are

1. Student Achievement

2. Accountability

3. School Wellness.

Throughout the process will

we keep you updated

through the newsletter and

Parent Council which holds

monthly meetings.

TOSH is excited to introduce Cst. Brett Montgomery as our School Liaison Officer for the 2015-16 school year. Cst. Montgomery is a former graduate of TOSH and is also involved with coaching at TOSH. Cst. Montgomery will be a familiar face around the school and welcome back to TOSH.

If parent's are picking students up early they are asked to come into the school....please do not call ahead. Student's stay in class until parents are in the main office so they do not miss class

the 24 hour answering machine is available and attendance will be adjusted the next day.

THE AXE OUTLET

On September 4th our Student Council welcomed the grade 10’s to TOSH with a BBQ and school tour. A big shout out to the students who organized this event along with Mrs. Keough. With over 250 grade 10 stu-dents this event is a great transition for our grade 10’s before the start of school. Our grade 10’s were also treated to a “TOSH WELCOME BACK VIDEO”. This video was produced by TOSH’S very own Chris MacDon-ald, Matt Rodger, Sebastien Roy-Garand. The following is the link to the video :
