Would you like to help out ???
We are always looking for parent, grandparent and
community volunteers in our school. They are an essential
part of the smooth running of our school community.
There are lots of ways in which you can help if you are
interested, such as:
Reading with the children (Friday)
Kitchen Garden Sessions (Friday)
Helping out in the office (whenever!)
Gardening (whenever!)
Assisting in class (any time!)
There are always books to be covered, supplies to be
laminated, gardens to be weeded. We can guarantee there
is something to do if you feel like filling in some time.
There are some important things to remember when you
are helping out at school, which we all need to remember.
If we need to talk to you about your child’s academic progress we will do so.
It is not our place to talk to you about other children and their academic progress or history.
We appreciate EVERYTHING that you do to help out at school—if we forget to say so, please don’t think that we don’t recognise your efforts.
Sometimes we will not deal with a situation straight away, but it will be dealt with at the
appropriate time.
Sometimes the most important thing for the teacher to do is continue on with the lesson so that all children can learn.
Please be sure to help out a range of children, not necessarily just your own.
Sometimes children don’t respond well to their family being in the classroom—it is a bit of a
shock. Perhaps you might like to help out in a different class.
Please don’t talk about other children outside of school or to their parents at school. Confidentiality is important.
All children progress at different rates—don’t ever try to compare them.
