Planning for 2018 Planning is well underway for 2018. If your child will not be returning to Romsey Primary School next year could you please notify us as soon as possible. Reminder: If you have not enrolled for Prep 2018 please complete the enrolment forms and re-turn them to the school office. Our final structure will depend on our student enrolment numbers, available classrooms, teacher schedules and possible changes to government policy that may im-pact on our decision-making. Regardless of these factors there is always some very relevant in-formation that parents convey to us that we take into consideration when arranging student groupings. Some examples of parent requests we consider have included: • Siblings may be in consecutive year levels eg: a Year 5 and a Year 6 and the parent wishes that they are not placed in the same class. • The separation of twins or alternatively parents may prefer the twins to be placed in the same class. • Two individuals may learn together really well and would benefit from being placed together in the same class or they may not learn well together and should be separated. Each year, we ask parents to inform us in writing of relevant information. Please note that this is not a teacher selection opportunity but one which may influence the children’s social and aca-demic grouping to ensure all students’ needs are met. Whilst we cannot guarantee your requests will be met, we assure you that the information you present will be carefully considered. Requests must be made in writing and should be addressed to the Principal as follows- ‘Confidential – 2018 Grade Placement’. Requests for grade placement should be lodged at the office no later than Friday, 10th November. Any parent, who has lodged a request in a previous year, should resubmit their request in writing even if their circumstances remain unchanged.

Water safety / Swimming Program The Prep -2 program has continued this week. I had the pleasure of attending Day 2. The children were all having a wonderful time. The 6 lessons are designed to increase the children’s abilities to keep themselves safe in and around the water. The program is not designed to replace weekly private swimming lessons. Ongoing swimming lessons teach children how to swim with correct technique and develop swimming stamina. Our program is designed to teach children how to stay safe and to develop techniques to save themselves. The program also develops independence in our children as they manage dressing and undressing themselves and looking after their belong-ings. After the program we will be seeking feedback from the families in relation to the program. I hope all families will participate in the chance to provide feedback both constructive and posi-tive. Enjoy your child’s creativity, Have a great week,

Vandalism

Unfortunately over the weekend we had some van-dalism at the school in the courtyard and on the basketball court. The broken glass has all been cleaned up and the graffiti will be removed. The police have been informed and are investigating. If you see any inappropriate behaviour at the school over the weekends could you please call the police straight away. This is the 3rd weekend in a row that we have arrived back at school on a Monday to broken glass in our playground areas. I also ask that if you are out and about on the weekend could you just walk through or past the school and provide a positive presence .

From the Office:

Dogs At School Parents are reminded that dogs are not permitted in the school grounds. This is for the safety of all students, staff, parents and other visitors. Your cooperation with this is most appreciated. Parking Reminder Parents are again reminded that the staff car parks are NOT to be used as drop off and collection points for students. We have noticed some parents not adhering to this requirement. This is for the safety of all students, staff and parents.
