ILS Eagle News May 15, 2020 Weekly Edition Principals Message The Winds Roared and the Waters Rose Last night was an exciting night in the neighborhood. Many of you were woken by tornado sirens going off and took shelter in your basements or safe places. The sirens near my home did not go off, but my school alarms were going off mightily. As I checked the alarms, I saw that many of you were sheltering to stay safe. What an exciting, but sleepless night! After the winds subsided last night, many of you worked with flooding in your neighborhoods. The drainage for my neighborhood runs through my side yard from nearby backyards. Its worked well as it was designed until a few years ago. My neighbor installed an unground pool in his back yard. Its beautiful, but it destroyed the water drain- age. Now my yard retains water and is often soggy. It s a mild annoyance in the big picture of life. It wasnt sup- posed to work like this. From a virus to roaring winds to rising waters, weve experienced a lot! It brings new meaning to the phrase - the storms of life! Its true we are experiencing some pretty good storms of life. March 13, our last day of face to face classes, seems like a lifetime ago. Since that time we have spun, danced, pivoted, and turned with everything that has been tossed our way. Its been enough to turn our lives upside down! Yet, youve been so grace-filled as together, weve walked this path. We thank God for you! Throughout every storm of life, we know we are anchored in Christ. What a beautiful picture that paints. We are held close to Him, sheltering in His loving arms. That is no accident, and its the perfect comfort for people of God! I pray that you stay safe in the sheltering arms of our God as we wrap up this year and move toward a summer break filled with questions and uncertainty. Be certain in His love and care for you! We plan to stay in touch as we continue to walk this road. We continue to plan and prepare for a new school year. Its going to be a busy summer! While we arent sure of every detail, we trust our God to lead us and keep us safe! Thats our prayer for you as we wind this year down. On behalf of the Faculty and Staff of Immanuel, we thank you for the tremen- dous support and encouragement you have provided us during these trying times. We commend you and yours to Gods perfect care and protection until that time we can be together again. We pray that time comes quickly! Gods blessings, Sue Domeier This week we celebrate the completion of this school year. We wrap it up Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. with our Closing Service which we are LiveStreaming. Principal’s Message

The Winds Roared and the Waters Rose Last night was an exciting night in the neighborhood.

It’s worked well as it was designed until a few years ago. My neighbor installed an unground pool in his back yard. It’s beautiful, but it destroyed the water drain-age. Now my yard retains water and is often soggy. It’s a mild annoyance in the big picture of life. It wasn’t sup-posed to work like this.

From a virus to roaring winds to rising waters, we’ve experienced a lot! It brings new meaning to the phrase - the storms of life!

It’s true we are experiencing some pretty good storms of life. March 13, our last day of face to face classes, seems like a lifetime ago. Since that time we have spun, danced, pivoted, and turned with everything that has been tossed our way. It’s been enough to turn our lives upside down! Throughout every storm of life, we know we are anchored in Christ. What a beautiful picture that paints. We are held close to Him, sheltering in His loving arms. That is no accident, and it’s the perfect comfort for people of God! I pray that you stay safe in the sheltering arms of our God as we wrap up this year and move toward a summer break filled with questions and uncertainty. Be certain in His love and care for you! We plan to stay in touch as we continue to walk this road. We continue to plan and prepare for a new school year. It’s going to be a busy summer! While we aren’t sure of every detail, we trust our God to lead us and keep us safe! That’s our prayer for you as we wind this year down. For Grades K-7-Your child’s MUSIC Google Classroom is accessible now AND throughout the months ahead. (Note: This is separate from their regular classroom main page and you’ll still need to use your child’s [email protected] address to access videos, etc.) Please continue to check back in the MUSIC Google classroom for good ideas of music-related things to do in the summer such as:

• music related websites-some for learning and some just for fun (links provided)

• “music choice” idea boards of things to do (includes lots of NO screen activities)

• recordings and/or lyrics for songs like “Beyond”, “We Miss You, We Really Do” (thanks, PB!), and the

“Friday Song”

• videos to watch-including some great ones just to get you moving and smiling

• instructional videos and websites for creating music online

• iPad apps and games to try

• videos of Mrs. Bartelt teaching a music/choir class in the AARC (made during April and May for gr. K-4 students)

Still need the classroom code to join? Email Mrs. Bartelt at: [email protected] or [email protected] and she’ll send it to you.

Attention PRESCHOOL and Grade 8 Students… Mrs. Bartelt has also recently made a PK Music Resources Google Classroom and an 8th Grade Google Music Classroom for you to access resources like the ones listed above as well!

• Preschool families—look for information for how to join from your child’s teacher.

• Gr. 8 students, Mrs. Becker will share the classroom code with you.

• Still need the your grade’s classroom code to join so you can access the materials? Email Mrs. Kris Bartelt at: [email protected] or [email protected] and she’ll send it to you.

Parents of Students ENTERING Immanuel’s’ Fifth Grade for 2020-21: As your child brings home school supplies from this year, please make sure you put his/her recorder in a safe place so that it is ready to go with school supplies next school year. ALL 5th grade students will need their recorders for use in some general mu-sic classes again in fifth grade. Thanks –Mrs. Bartelt

Parents of Students EXITING Fifth Grade: Have a recorder your child no longer needs since we won’t use the recorder in junior high music classes? Mrs. Bartelt can always use extras…so if you are wondering what to do with that recorder, please consider giving it back to school for future students to use. Any recorder dona-tions can be given to the church or school secretary. Thanks! Parents of OUTGOING 8th Graders-- If you find that after your 8th grader graduates that your family will not be needing the maroon hymnal (Lutheran Service Book) your student used here at Immanuel, and it is still in reasonably good condition, please consider “recycling” it back to the school office. We will then make it availa-ble to a student/family for whom the cost of a new one for the next school year would create a hardship. Thank you. Gr. 5-8 Music and Sports Awards –WATCH FOR THEM!! Parents of band, chorus, handbells and handchimes, and/or cross country, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track students: Be on the lookout for gold pins, bars, and/or letters and certificates to come home in your child’s packet of things on material pick up day. In recognition of participation in various groups, a music student will be receiving gold pins or bars to be placed on a chenille Immanuel “I” letter, and that letter (if one has not yet been earned from music or sport participation up to this point). These awards make a nice memento of your child’s achievement and participation. You’ll want to keep them in a special place. They are paid for from activity fees collected at the beginning of each group’s season. (If you have a question about a sports award, contact Mr. Kevin Becker ([email protected]). If you need help with a music award, contact Mrs. Kris Bartelt ([email protected]).

Manna News: The next Manna order date is scheduled for this Sunday, May 17th. June order dates will

be Sunday the 7th and 28th. July and August dates will be released later in the summer.

The Scrip program is still currently operating. In our best efforts to keep all of our cus-

tomers safe and to provide this service for you during the summer, we will continue to

be providing some alternative options for our ordering and pick up procedures.

Our first option is offered through the shopwithscrip.com website. We are encouraging

customers to order 'eGift Cards.' These are available to many of your favorite stores and

restaurants and no physical cards are received (see attachment for all eCards). An addi-

tional benefit to purchasing eGift Cards is that you do not have to wait for normal pro-

cessing times and an email is sent promptly following your order placement. Your second

ordering option is to order online or through us via email, and for a fee of $8.50, your

physical cards will be delivered to your home.

Lastly, if you need to order local stores, such as Woodman's, we will contact you via

email regarding a specific location and time window for pick up. Depending on our local vendor gift card supply, we may be unable to pro-

vide you with your requested amount. If you are sending a check for payment, please mail to the church office, ATTN: Manna Program.

We thank you for your understanding during this trying time. You and your families are continually lifted up in our prayers. It is in the best

interest of our customers that we continue providing this service while also helping to keep everyone happy and healthy!

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to Amanda via email at [email protected] or

call Erin at 847-772-4792.
