Principal’s Message
Term 4 Week 3 – 30th October 2019
Welcome to Week 3. It has been extremely pleasing to see the high quality work samples that students are producing across our classrooms. Students have been focusing hard on writing and numeracy as part of the school's targets and all teachers and students continue to work hard on these focuses.
Seventeen Children's University students graduated at the Great Hall, University of Newcastle on Monday evening. It was a wonderful night for our students to be recognised for their continued love of learning and completing their hours as part of the program. A huge thanks to Mrs Tan and Mrs Barry for their continued support and organisation of the program.
Brickfest was a huge success on Sunday with many students and community members from across the region gracing our school grounds to witness an amazing LEGO exhibition. Well done to Alison Schubert (coordinator) and the whole P&C team and helpers who spent their own time assisting in the running of the day.
There were many positive comments that came from our community members and businesses around town in our first ever Story Street. All K-2 classes visited many businesses throughout the town, were entertained by business owners who read the students a story. Well done to all involved in the initiative.
Brandon Cox is currently playing for the NSWPSSA in the School Sport Australia Touch Football competition held in Canberra. The team has had a great start to the competition and we wish Brandon all the best for the rest of the week.

Showing Positive Behaviour for Learning
Tawny congratulates the following students for displaying our King Street Values of Kind, Safe, Proud
and Supportive. Our Term 4 Week 3 Focus is Coping– Resilience #1
Strengths on Display
‘Honesty’ is a wonderful
strength to have. It was great
to hear how straight after a
parent left her phone on a seat
Tesha L found it and handed it
into Mrs Burgess straight
away.
Well done Tesha!
Important Notice!
Due to Friday assemblies being
held whilst students are leaving
for swimming lessons, we kindly
ask that parents please leave a
section of the bus zone near the
King Street gate free.
This is for the safety and
convenience of our students.
Your assistance is appreciated.
Story Street

Last Friday our Infants students participated in the Story Street Community Reading Day. Classes walked to
John Street where they had stories read to them by a variety of community businesses. The aim of the day was
to share the love of reading and show students that reading is valued throughout the community. Our students
thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity.
We would like to the following businesses that took the time to be a part of this day:
‘That Art Place’, All 4 U Fashion & Accessories, Singleton Ink Spot, Singleton Newsagency, Singleton Florist,
Commonwealth Bank, Blus School of Dance, Riley Young & Associates Financial Planning, Ranch House

Vegetable Garden Fun
Our KSPS vegetable garden is bursting with beautiful produce this season! Our EWOKS have been enjoying
beetroot, carrots and potatoes made into potato salad.
Our staff have also been lucky enough to enjoy the spinach grown within our garden with Ms Harman making a
spinach and feta tart for all to share.
Thank you to Mrs Fishpool and all our EWOKS for all their hard work in the garden.
