IMPORTANT MESSAGE This Friday, June 8th is Curriculum Day—
no school for students, Next Monday, June 11th is Queen’s birthday—
no school for students. This week is a busy time for our student leaders as they are participating in Student Leadership programs. Fourteen senior students attended a day camp experience on Monday with Mrs Bloomfield and Miss Gramc to develop leadership skills. On Thursday our Environmental student leaders will be participating in the Dolphin Research—I sea, I care program to further develop their involvement with developing a sustainable environment for the future. These opportunities provide our students access to knowledge
and skills that have life time impact. We congratulate our student leaders on their passion, enthusiasm and commitment.

‘Learning Talk’
Every two weeks we will be asking families to participate in ‘Learning Talks’ with their children.
By discussing topics and ideas prior to learning, you will help your children get ahead in their personal learning. Students will follow up in class with activities that are related to their ‘Learning Talks’.
Foundation
In Numeracy, students will be focussing on revising the num-bers 0 - 20. We encourage students to find and name num-bers around their home and practice counting objects. Also have a go at skip counting by 2s and 5s as we will be intro-ducing this new concept in our future lessons.
Junior
In Numeracy, students will be learning about telling the time using digital and analogue clocks. To support your child could you please talk about the features of clocks and play games estimating short periods of time. Key words are sec-onds, minutes, hours, o'clock and half past. Ask children questions, What time do you….?
Middle
In Numeracy, the middle students will be learning about angles. Students will be focusing on:
If an angle is greater or less than a right angle
Comparing angles in everyday situations
Recognising that analogue clocks use the turning of hands to indicate time, and comparing the size of angles between the hands for familiar times
Discuss with your child what the word angle refers to. Look
for angles around the house and outside.
Senior
In Numeracy, students will be looking at transformations. To support your child
Discuss the term symmetrical and have a look at sym-metrical patterns
Talk about the different forms of transformations trans-lations, rotations and reflections
Look at tessellations and discuss how they have been formed by rotating shapes
Procedural Writing
All students will be learning how to write procedures.
Using procedural writing helps you accomplish a goal; it gives instructions for completing both common and complex goals.

On Monday 4th June, our school leaders participated in a fantastic
leadership day at CYC Adventure Resort at Phillip Island. The day was facilitated by our friends from
C.H.I.P.S. who do some wonderful work for our local communities.
The focus of the day was on leadership and the students learnt some valuable skills on being effective leaders.
They also had some fun on the Giant Swing and the Skills Course as you can see from the photos.
I would like to thank the parents of the student leaders for making the commitment to bring their children to
school by 8.00am so we could make the most of the day.
On Friday the 27th July, Cranbourne Primary School will hold a Multicultural Day –
celebrating the many different cultures of our students. This day will include African
Drumming Workshops for the whole school as well as culturally based workshops.
We are seeking parent volunteers who would like to run a session based on their culture
(you will be supported by teachers). This could be: art, cooking, dancing, dress, music or
sport to name a few.
If you are interested in participating, please contact your child’s Home Group Teacher or
fill in the slip below.

school prior to this time, unless they are attending Breakfast Club or Soccer Club.
Breakfast Club is open on Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8.15 to 8.45am.
Upon arrival students should be escorted to the Breakfast Club by a parent or older
sibling. Breakfast Club is located at the oval end of the BER Building. Miss Collier
and Ms Martin are the supervising adults for the Breakfast Club.
Any students found in the yard before 8.30am on Tuesday or Thursday will be
directed to the Breakfast Club.
Soccer Club is provided on Wednesday and Friday morning from 8.15 to 8.45am.
This club is supervised by Mr Baker.
Any students found in the yard before 8.30am on Wednesday or Friday will be

There are no school activities provided on Monday morning. However, we invite all
our parents and community members to attend our weekly school assembly in the
gym at 9.00am each Monday morning.

home group teacher.
