31 th August 2016 Principal’s Message Dear Parents and Carers, What a fantastic book parade we had last week. The costumes were amazing and I know your child and the other students in the school appreciated your efforts. I know they appreciated the teachers’ efforts as well. Book parades are a great way for students to think positively about the books they read and to share their favourite authors and books. I am looking forward to our International Day on 14 September 2016. It is going to be a wonderful acknowledgement and recognition of cultural diversity within our school and celebrate our community spirit. I am looking forward to tasting all the wonderful food that will be available. My mouth has been watering reading those pink notes and what you are bringing in to share. As I am writing this message, I am watching some of our students dressed in their national costumes going to audition for our performance on International Day. The classrooms are looking fantastic and the students are learning about many different countries. Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers, What a fantastic book parade we had last week. The costumes were amazing and I know your child and the other students in the school appreciated your efforts. AFL CLINICS

Glenfield students have been having a ball with

the AFL clinics this term. We even had a special

visit from a GIANT! At AFL clinics students are

improving their confidence with ball skills and

making new friends. We really missed our last

AFL session, due to the weather, and so AFL will

be extended for an extra week.

Important Reminders: Parking – please remember parking rules and regulations. Again I will remind you of the fines and most importantly the dangers to students when you park illegally or call your students to run across the road.

Playground Matters – parents are not allowed to approach other students in the school if they feel there is a problem. If you have a concern you need to speak to the teacher on duty or speak to the class teacher. Opal cards – please organise one for your child as we can longer purchase tickets for excursions. Uniform – please ensure your child wears the correct school uniform and not multi-coloured jumpers. The uniform represents the pride we have in our school. If you need support to purchase uniforms please see me and don’t forget our P&C sells cheap, good quality, second hand uniforms at very minimal prices. Canteen Advertisements will soon be placed in the local papers for tenders for the operation of the school canteen. Our P&C has approved this process. It is a lengthy process that I hope will be finalised before we return to school. I will keep you updated on this matter.
