Last Thursday Dixie participated in the Great California Shakeout along with other schools, government agencies, and businesses. Our students and staff rehearsed what to do in the event of an earthquake. We received positive feedback from our district observers that students and staff were prepared and knew what to do in the event of a real earthquake. Sincerely, Jason Manviller Principal Dixie Elementary School Thursday, November 10th, DHSC is hosting the first of three Dixie Staff Appreciation Luncheons. Operation Gratitude Last year, Marin County families donated more than 600 pounds of candy and toothbrushes through this program! This is a great way to encourage student awareness for our troops overseas as well as help them understand the importance of giving back – a civic virtue. I encourage teachers and parents to consider making this a fun opportunity to have students send notes, cards, and pictures to the troops as well. How to donate: · Collect your unwanted candy, toothbrushes, cards, pictures, etc. · Deliver to the Marin County Office of Education – Superintendent’s Office at 1111 Las Gallinas Avenue in San Rafael · Deliveries are requested no later than Monday, November 7 Thank you for supporting our troops! Mary Jane Burke Marin County Superintendent of Schools
