Football and Netball Carnival– from the students perspective

Football;

We arrived on the bus and when we got there we found out we had the first bye, so we all got ready by

having a snack, putting our football boots on and putting our team Guernsey on. Our first game was

against St Lawrence our team was energetic and excited. We won all the quarters and our team was hap-

py about that game. We played our second game against Kalbarri and we lost because when we kicked

the ball to a place there was no one to catch it, because all the players were down the other end our

team was a bit disappointed about that game. We went and had a break, rest and drink. Our third game

was against St Johns. We learnt from the last game that you have to stay in your positions. We won all the

quarters and after that game we were so tired we, had another break. Even after that break we were still

tired. Our last game was against Mt Tarcoola, they didn't have much energy but they were still doing

good. After that game our team lost by four goals. After the whole game, Mt Tarcoola won in both A

grade and B grade. Our whole team was proud because we won two games and that we tried our hard-

est. We would all like to thank Mr Campbell for umpiring, Ms Trump for organising for Wandina to being the

competition and organising the Guernsey's for Wandina to wear. We would also like to thank the parent

helpers. Wandina football team have been practising for the footy carnival bye playing games of footy at

lunchtime. There were four teams and captains, Defenders captain Jack.C, Warriors captain Jaxon.G, Gi-

ants captain Cullyn and Wolverines captain Harrison. The umpires were Mr Cambell and Mr Power. Ms

Trump was helping scoring, umpiring, putting you in your positions and setting the whole field and goals up.

Written by: Jasper Cook & Jaxon Graham - Room 10

Worthy of a mention were:

- Jasper, Daniel, Jack, Corey and Rory who displayed high level AFL talent

- Cohen and Brendan who threw themselves at people easily twice their height

- Jay K who was a gentle giant took some great marks, knew how to precise pass when kicking and

checked on the wellbeing of almost every opposition player he tackled

- Liam R was a real go-getter and fearless when it came to throwing his body into the fray

- Isaac and Lachlan who regularly were left 'last man standing' in defence in front of goals

- Mr Campbell for risking beetroot status for a whole day in the sun and generally the whole team for show-

ing some of the best sportsmanship I witnessed throughout the day.

Written by : Mr Campbell

NETBALL;

On Friday the 20th May, two teams went to the Netball Carnival at the Netball Courts. Mrs Larter was the

coach of the year 5 team and Mrs Trump was the coach of the 4/5 team. Mrs Trump‘s team played five

games and Mrs Larter‘s team played 4 games. The year 5 team won a trophy in the BRUCE division. Every-

one enjoyed their day.

WANDINA LUNCH TIME NETBALL COMPETITION:

Every Monday and Friday a mixture of boys and girls in year 4 and 5 played a lunch time Netball Competi-

tion. The competition went for six weeks form week 2 to week 7. There were 6 teams. Everyone participat-

ed very well
