Family Time CrosswordWouldn’t it be great to have various members of the family all solving the same puzzle? That’s the idea behind Timothy Parker’s latest syndicated puzzle, the FAMILY TIME CROSSWORD. The puzzle is a professional, symmetrical puzzle that features clues for both adults and children. The kids’ clues are denoted with a (K) and are purposely clued for their level. This puzzle is a great way for parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, etc. to interact with kids in a fun setting and work together to reach a common goal. The whole idea centers on quality family time — something needed now more than ever.

Hidatoby Dr. Gyora Benedek
Star Trek’s Mr. Spock would have loved “Hidato” because it’s based totally on logic—no guesswork is needed. Each Hidato puzzle starts with a grid partially filled with numbers. The goal is to fill the grid with consecutive numbers that connect horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Each puzzle has only one possible solution. The first and last numbers of a puzzle will be in circle markers.

Universal KakuroUNIVERSAL KAKURO is a cross between traditional crosswords and Sudoku. The idea behind Kakuro is very simple. Just like Sudoku, you must fit the numbers 1 to 9 into a grid of squares so that no number is repeated within a defined area. And just like a crossword, there’s a grid of filled blocks and clues to solve.
Kakuro puzzles are best solved using logic. Some of the same logic can be used as in Sudoku, but you also need a bit of math because with Kakuro there is a second restraint: not only must the numbers not repeat within a clue run, they also must add up to given totals—these totals replace traditional word clues found in a crossword.

Universal Sudokuby David Bodycombe
UNIVERSAL SUDOKU is the hottest new worldwide puzzle that uses numbers instead of words. It’s a grid of 81 squares, divided into nine blocks of nine squares each. Some of the squares contain a digit. The goal is to fill in the empty squares so that the digits 1 through 9 appear just once in every row, column and individual block.
The aficionados of modern-day Sudoku are keen to point out that it is not a mathematical problem. Logic is what’s required.

Sudoku x (9x9)
This puzzle is a variation on classic Sudoku where each shaded diagonal must also contain each digit exactly once. The extra constraints provided by the diagonals allow Sudoku X puzzles to have dramatically fewer givens to start. Experienced solvers find this variation fun and refreshing. Objective: Fill remaining cells with digits 1 through 9 so that each digit occurs exactly once in each row, column, heavily outlined 3x3 block, and each shaded diagonal. Tips: Start with cells on the diagonals, since they have the most constraints. Avoid guessing; unless you can remember every move you made since the guess, an incorrect guess is hard to undo. You can keep track of possible answers using “pencil marks” (small digits drawn lightly in the corners of a cell) but if you need more than 3 pencil marks in a cell, it is generally not worth it. Puzzles are available 7x weekly. Daily puzzles scale from easiest on Monday to hardest by Sunday. For tips and tutorials, visit us at http://numberpuzzles.com/SudokuX

Sudoku x Mini (6x6)
This puzzle is a variation on 6x6 Sudoku where each shaded diagonal must also contain each digit exactly once. The extra constraints provided by the diagonals allow Sudoku X Mini puzzles to have dramatically fewer givens to start. Experienced solvers find this variation fun and refreshing.
Objective: Fill remaining cells with digits 1 through 6 so that each digit occurs exactly once in each row, column, heavily outlined 3x2 block, and each shaded diagonal.
The cells near the center are particularly powerful.Consider the digit 3 shown in the example to the right. The red lines show how it projects into neighboring 3x2blocks. As a result, the block above it can contain thedigit 3 only in cells A or B, and the block beside it canhave its 3 only in cells C or D. (In this case, C.)
