(SSP) SPANISH SPEAKING PROGRAM/ PROGRAMA HISPANOThe Program is designed for Spanish-speaking students who are English Language Learners (ELL). During the first two years, students earn credits towards their degree by taking General Education courses in Spanish while completing the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. At the end of the second year, or once the ESL sequence is completed, students transition to all-English courses. Students who do not meet the ESL requirement are not eligible for the program. In order to be admitted into the Program the student must have a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA at the time of application for admission. SAT scores are not required. All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited foreign credential evaluation agency. Such agencies/services have no affiliation with Kean University. A Document-by-Document evaluation is required that identifies and describes each diploma or certificate, indicates periods of education, and provides an equivalency to a U.S. high school diploma for each document. Cumulative GPA must be included. Please visit www.naces.org for a list of agencies.

• Complete freshman admission application.

• A non-refundable $75.00 application fee, payable by check or money order, to Kean University or an official fee waiver.

• Submit an official secondary school transcript indicating 16 college preparatory courses, including:

- English (4) - Mathematics (3) (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry) - History (2) - Lab sciences (2) - Electives in Social Studies, Sciences, Mathematics or Foreign Languages (5)

• SAT or ACT scores (Kean CEEB number is 2517)

• Two letters of recommendation

• Personal Essay: Please express your educational and professional career objectives.

• List of your high school activities and/or work experience, indicate any leadership positions held.

If accepted for admission the final high school transcript must be submitted. Upon review of the final high school transcript, if all criteria for admission to Kean University are not met, the University reserves the right to rescind admission.

Applicants 25 years of age or older who have demonstrated the desire and potential to succeed in college, who have been away from formal schooling for five or more years and have no more than 15 college credits may be considered for admission through this program as part-time students.

ExCEPtIONAl EduCAtIONAl OPPORtuNItIES/EduCAtIONAl OPPORtuNIty FuNd (EEO/EOF) PROGRAM: ADMission progrAM coDe (eeo)

The EEO/EOF Program is an academic support program designed to provide access to higher education for New Jersey residents who demonstrate academic potential and a high level of motivation to achieve a college degree. Support services provided include a mandatory six-week pre-freshman Summer Academy, writing studio, math lab, specialized counseling, academic advising, academic coaching/tutoring, and career development in a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment. The program is designed for full-time students. The Summer Academy is July 1st - August 8th, 2013, Monday - Thursday, during which admitted students may elect to live on campus. The cost of the Summer Academy is paid for by the EOF Grant, covering the cost of tuition for up to 9 course credits, student service fees, books, meals and housing for students who live on campus. Students must qualify both academically and financially for admission into the program. Income/household size verification is required.

• SAT minimum requirement: 800 (math and verbal only) or ACT composite score of 17

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

• You must be a resident of New Jersey for at least 12 months prior to enrolling in college

1. Submit your Admissions Application well before the may 1st deadline. Make sure to indicate you are applying for the EOF Program under the “Special Admission Program” section by entering the letters “EEO” or “EOF” in the code boxes of the print application or select “EEO/EOF Freshman” as your application status on the online application.

2. Please submit your official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, essay and application fee to the Central Data Processing Center.

3. A financial needs analysis is made for each completed applicant prior to an admissions decision being made.

An International Applicant is someone who is applying for an F-1 student visa to study in the United States or is currently on an F-1or J-1 visa. An admission to Kean University is based on meeting both academic and financial support criteria.

Freshman applicants eligible to be considered for admission into NJCSTM programs are those who have demonstrated a high aptitude in science and mathematics and wish to complete a rigorous course of full-time academic study in order to pursue careers in the following: science/mathematics teaching, engineering science, biotechnology or computational math. educaTion TracK: This five-year program awards a B.S. in Science and Technology and an M.A. in Instruction and Curriculum. Graduates are scientist-educators with a background rich in the integration of mathematics with the natural and physical sciences, and earn NJ teacher certification at the secondary level in biology, chemistry or mathematics. Application Deadline: May 1, 2013

reSearch TracK: This five-year program awards a B.S./M.S. in Science and Technology that prepares researchers for careers in scientific and computational industries. Graduates specialize in biotechnology or applied mathematics. This program integrates coursework, research externships and extensive laboratory training in molecular and analytical techniques (biotechnology) or modeling and simulation (computational mathematics). Application Deadline: March 1, 2013

Biomedicine TracK: This four-year program awards a B.S. in Science and Technology, preparing graduates to apply to the professional training school of their choosing (i.e., medical or osteopathic schools, physical therapy or biomedical doctoral programs). Application Deadline: March 1, 2013

dreXel TracK: Students who are accepted at the time of freshman application to the NJCSTM 4 + 4 linkage program with Drexel College of Medicine and St. Peter’s University Hospital are dually admitted as college freshmen. Upon successful completion of the bachelor’s degree, meeting all academic requirements, they will enter the medical school class at Drexel College of Medicine. Application Deadline: December 1, 2012

engineering TracK: This linkage program with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) College of Engineering affords its college majors coursework both at Kean and NJIT. Students earn the Kean University BS Science & Technology/Engineering Science degree, then complete the Master’s in Engineering at NJIT. Application Deadline: March 1, 2013

STep 3 – admiSSion deciSion

An admissions decision will NOT be made until all financial documentation has been received.Once you receive an official letter of acceptance from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions you MUST:

• Take the required on-campus placement test. Information about test dates will be mailed to you. After you have taken the placement test, you will be eligible to register for classes. Information concerning registration will be mailed to you.

• Attend a required Orientation on Sunday, June 30, 2013.• Attend a six-week mandatory Pre-Freshman Summer Academy from July 1, 2013 to August 8, 2013, Monday-Thursday.

Financial assistance is offered through the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF). For the 2013-2014 academic year, EOF grants range from $1,150 to $1,400 per academic year (up to $575 per semester for students who do not live on campus or $700 per semester for on-campus residents) and are part of the overall financial aid package, which may consist of federal and state grants, scholarships, loans, and/or work study.

The program combines a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant. The program consists of 3 years of undergraduate studies at Kean for the BA in Biological Sciences degree, and pending acceptance into UMDNJ, 3 years in the graduate program at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, UMDNJ, leading to a Master in Physician Assistant degree.

Kean University has a collaborative dual degree program with the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey (UMDNJ). The dual degree program in Physical Therapy is a six-year combined Bachelor’s and Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. It consists of undergraduate studies at Kean for the Bachelor’s degree and graduate studies at UMDNJ in Newark leading to a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT).
