IPPG IPPG UTS: INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC POLICY AND GOVERNANCE PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT NEW 4 HOUR WORKSHOP Local government authorities operate within a complex environment which presents unique, recurring and unexpected situations. This four-hour interactive workshop is designed to empower local government practitioners with additional knowledge, skills and tools to think critically and solve problems in ways that are efficient and effective. Participants will get to explore the root causes of a range of problems, develop competence in generating and evaluating solutions as well as identify steps to communicate and implement solutions. The factors that shape and influence problem solving in government will also be explored. ABOUT THE PRESENTER Dr Robyn Cochrane is lead researcher for Cochrane Research Solutions and also teaches management and managerial problem solving and decision-making courses at post-graduate level. Prior to commencing her own consulting business, Robyn had an extensive work background in the local government sector and vocational education and training sector in Victoria.
