Suggested Procedure for a Listening Lesson

An attempt to describe a framework for the development of listening skills does not

assume that this is the only manner in which to structure or approach a TEFL listening

lesson.

Here is a suggested procedure for dealing with a TEFL listening skills lesson. The TEFL teacher will begin the lesson with a Warmer

activity and conclude with Revision.

Introduce the topic or theme or background first.

At this time, it may be a good idea to introduce any vocabulary which the students will need in order to answer the questions you

are going to give them.

Now give the students a task to do while they listen.

Give the students some time to compare in pairs quietly.

Give the students another task to do.

Play the tape again.

Revision or Closing.
