Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/ECFiltertechnikFiltration, Purification &

Separation SolutionsAll pressure equipment, including filter housings, being placed into service in Europe, must conform to Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC. This directive requires that all pressure equipment and assemblies above specified pressure and/or volume thresholds must:

• Be safe.• Meet essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing.• Satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures.• Carry the CE marking and other information.

Under the directive Pressure Equipment is classified into one of five categories; SEP (Sound Engineering Practice) and Cat-egories I, II, III, or IV.The categories in turn are defined by system pressure and volume, Fluid Group (Group 1 or Group 2) and the fluid type (gas or liquid)Group 1 comprises those fluids classified, according to the EC directive on the classification of dangerous substances, as: • Explosive • Oxidising • Flammable • Very flammable• Extremely flammable • Toxic • Very toxic

Group 2 comprises all other fluids including steam.Filtertechnik Filters is a leading designer and manufacturer of filter vessels. These are manufactured either based on sound engineering practice, or industry recognised design codes such as EN13345, PD5500 and ASME VIII, but we ensure all ves-sels supplied, satisfy the demands of the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive). We are also accredited for self certification to Module H of the PED.

The Pressure Equipment Directive means that it is illegal to market, sell or install vessels that do not meet the requirements of the PED rules and there is an individual and corporate responsibility for the vessels that pass through a company - it is therefore in your interest to understand the requirements of this directive and ensure the vessels you use or sell are fully compliant.

ATEX options available:ATEX is the name commonly given to the framework or legislation and guidance for controlling explosive atmospheres and the standards of equipment and protective systems used in them. Therefore this legislation will apply to filters when used in these potentially hazardous environments.

Filtertechnik bespoke design and manufacturing capabilities enable us to provide sys-tems with improved ergonomics, efficiency and Health & Safety benefits. Filter housings can be designed to International pressure vessel design codes (ASME VIII, EN13445 and PD5500) and are ATEX and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC compli-ant. We are also accredited for Self Certifying to Module H of the PED. Our expertise includes manufacturing housings using a wide range of stainless steels and exotic alloys.

Separation SolutionsFiltertechnik Filters offers a range of absolute and nominal rated depth filters using polypropylene, nylon 6, glass and cotton fibres. Filters can be supplied in standard format or as large diameter, high flow versions, with removal ratings ranging from 0.3 – 200 µm

Filtertechnik Filters are recognized as leaders in the field of meltblown depth filter cartridge technology. Our leading edge research has resulted in the manufacture of filters where the diameters of the blown fibres are controlled to produce different pore sizes throughout the production process. This enables the retention of contaminants throughout the depth of the media. All the layers are inter-linked to offer maximum support while ensuring that the high void volume is maintained. The fibre density is increased towards the inside of the media giving true progressive retention and therefore long filter life.
