SAINT CHARLES PARISH COMMUNITY 880 TAMARACK AVENUE SAN CARLOS CALIFORNIA 94070 www.stcharlesparish.org Proclaim the Risen Christ! On Easter morning everything--the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music--everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today's scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing "Alleluia!" In the scriptures today we hear from Peter, Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John's Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glorious Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness accounts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc Rejoice and be Glad “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad” (Psalm 118). Let us remember that these words of today’s responsorial psalm are not only sung from the hearts of those gathered in our parish. They are also sung by the poor in tiny barrios throughout Central and South America. They are sung by those denied religious freedom in our world; these Christians lift their voices in clandestine places of wor- ship. These words are sung by people who have lost loved ones to acts of terrorism and war around the globe. Even in the midst of conflict and division, Christians still come together to declare that poverty, loneliness, violence, and division will never, ever have as much power as the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Indeed, let us rejoice this day and be glad! © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

Rejoice and be Glad

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad” (Psalm 118). Let us remember that these words of today’s responsorial psalm are not only sung from the hearts of those gathered in our parish. They are also sung by the poor in tiny barrios throughout Central and South America. They are sung by those denied religious freedom in our world; these Christians lift their voices in clandestine places of wor-ship. The Wild Goose is Loose The wild goose is an ancient Celtic name for the Holy Spirit. The Wild Goose is also the name of a video se-ries on discovering a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit that we will be presenting at St. Charles. If you allow Him, the Spirit will help you to speak the right words, make improved decisions, even guide you in raising your children or grandchildren and can lead you into the very heart of God. Because each weekly session is comprised of independent aspects of the Spirit, you can miss a time and then rejoin. Each ses-sion will be presented twice in the Borromeo chapel - once on Wednesday from 7pm to 8:30pm and also on Thursday 9:00am to 10:30am starting April 4/5. For more info, go to www.Thewildgooseisloose.com or contact Deacon Ernie at email or 650.906.3451.

This weekend our monthly collection for parish edu-cation will be taken up. Thank you for your continued sup-port of our community.

Mexico Mission 2018 If you are interested in going, our next meeting is April 25, 7:30 in Borromeo Hall. Or pre-register on the church web site > Ministries > Mexico Mission > Sign Up to Par-ticipate. Our mission teens are in fundraising mode - each teen must meet a $1500 fundraising goal. We are accepting donations – make checks payable to St. Charles – Mexico Mission. You can drop off at the church mailbox. Note that our Fiesta Dinner is scheduled for Sat-urday, May 19, 5-8:00pm in Borromeo Hall. Tickets go on sale April 2. Questions – contact Carlos DeMarchena, 650-520-3725, [email protected].

There is no greater joy for the Church than to welcome in new members as we did during the Easter Vigil. We celebrate and welcome all our new members during this blessed Easter season.

Congratulations to the following St. Charles Cate-chumen and candidates who received sacraments at the Easter Vigil:

Ivy D’Arcy, Nicholas Boscacci, Phillipa Gray, Craig Leader, and Diana Du Richmond

We wish them a blessed faith journey. Special thanks to all the hard-working catechists who prepared candi-dates and catechumen for these sacraments. Thank you sponsors, parents, and parishioners for your prayerful support throughout the RCIA process.

Welcome Home!

ST. CHARLES CHURCH APRIL 1, 2018

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

How Great is God's Mercy? On the Sunday after Easter the entire Church is invited to celebrate the mercy of God in an extraordinary way on a very special day chosen by Jesus Christ during visions to St. Faustina. St. Pope John Paul II designated the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. A complete outpour-ing of His mercy is available to all who approach Him with great trust and faith this day.

Join us at St. Charles, Sunday April 8, 2:00pm, and experience His divine mercy.

Looking for an opportunity to volunteer through our parish? Something that you could do alone, or with your family or friends? Students, do you need volunteer hours? Saturday, April 14th, from 9am-12pm, our St. Vincent de Paul group will be volunteering at our SVdP store located at 2406 El Camino in Redwood City to help with sorting donated items and we could really use your help. The proceeds from the items we are preparing for sale are used to support SVdP programs to help the forgotten, suffering and the most marginalized among our neighbors. If you choose to join us on April 14th, you will be giving a tremendous gift back to our community. To sign up online, go to our parish homepage at www.stcharlesparish.org and select Parish Groups, and from the drop down list, select the St. Vincent de Paul Society link. Questions? Call Anne Tartaglia at (650) 245-3141. Thank you for your support!! Your St. Vincent de Paul Conference
